My new Bulldog or hey, I think my knife is pregnant

Got my new Scout knife today in the mail from Bulldog Knives. I looked at it and my first impression was "Hey...this knife is knocked up!". It is a good looking knife with a few extra blades not always found on a traditional Scout. Standard main spear point, can opener (old school type), screwdriver/cap lifter, second small clip blade...these on top. On the bottom is a corkscrew (very important as I have sworn off Annie Greensprings) and an awl. The knife has goos snap, no half stops, and all blades open easily but the awl. They do include a blade opener with the knife so it isn't a big deal. The scales are synthetic and look like tortoise shell, very nice looking. Overall fit and finish is good. For an inexpensive knife I am happy with it. Next trip to the woods I will take it and leave the Rough Rider at home.

It's really not that fat...if you measure from the bottom coils of the corkscrew to the top edge of the main blade it is a hair over an inch, or less than a 1/4 fatter than my Rough Rider Scout. It is also about a 1/4 inch shorter. I do wish it had a lanyard bale on it tho. If you got one of the freebie nylon belt sheathes from Smokey Mountain it fits great in those.

Nice knife there!
But you know how this pregnancy happened? Leaving a hot little Girl Scout with a lecherous old Trapper in the knife-box...it's a natural thing!

Thanks for your info. After your last post on scout knives I checked out eBay and saw they had a whole slew of Bulldogs in all sorts of handle types. I ordered a Bulldog scout with "Twilight Sheen" slabs. Should be here in a day or two.
Viva La Scouts.

Good one, glad to see the old style can opener back. :thumbup.
Tell us how it performed in the woods once you get to test it.

The handle material on mine was called Spooky Mist. Quite of few of the colors all look like tortoise shell however. The Liquid Slate is another good looking color. I did try the can opener and after a couple of false starts it worked smoothly, won't replace my automatic in the kitchen but will do well for emergencies and in the woods. Corkscrew smoothly removed the cork from a bottle of Olivers Blackberry last night as well.

I cant figure out how the can opener works do you have pics of that please

I got mine last night. I agree, good fit and finish for a $40 knife. Nice heft. With those dressy handles, its like a gentlemen's scout knife, if there ever was such a thing.
Blade edges needed some work getting them up to acceptable sharpness, but no big deal. I was surprised at how difficult some blades are to open, some tools are real nail-rippers. Good thing they supplied a blade opener.
Is there a way to alleviate exceedingly strong backspring tension? I read on the TSA knives blog that somebody was leaving a Great Eastern Cutlery (known for their strong backsprings) folder half or three-quarters open for a period of time to take some of the snap out of the folder. Has anyone else done this, and does it work?
