I absolutely love this knife. Not too big, certainly not too small. Draws fast. Locks in the hand like a chicken neck on a fiddle diddy. I saw this below in the posts more than once, but I never saw a difinitive answer. Will Rekat offer an ambidextrous thumbstud (though I can make a makeshift one like mentioned earlier in posts), and how about a break-away scabbard (if there's not already one available; I'm new to the world of Rekat). This thing is a kind of love within itself in the forward grip.

Professor, Glad you like it. BTW I'm going tomorrow to check on an ambi-stud for Maddog2020's Carnivour. If I can find some, I'll send one to you.

You might be able to get Steve to make you a Kydex sheath for it. You can view some of his work at : http://www.geocities.com/CollegePark/Lab/1298/knifehome.html

He seems like a good guy, just working his way through college making some nice Kydex Sheaths.

When we offred a sheath for the pioneers they didn't go over most people want a clip. The problem is you cant do both and they sheaths don't work well with pocket clips. So at this time we are going to pass on the break front kydex sheath but it has been looked at.

Thank you for the replies gentlemen. Bob, I understand perfectly well about the sheaths. I wear a suit and tie everyday for the most part, so I'll probably look into a small-of-back kydex sheath's being made by one of the kydex sheath purveyors.

Excalibur, that would be great! I really appreciate that and will gladly pay you for it if you need me to. I checked over at www.halpertitanium.com since they've got thumbstuds; I just don't know if they'd fit. Thanks again, and I really do love this knife; I carry a BM mini-Axis too and now I've got the best of both worlds.

Ever notice no other candy tastes quite like Pez? Oh yeah, and the BM Axis rules.

Unfortunately I have Part 2 of National Boards and clinic entrance exams coming up in a few weeks, so I won't be taking more orders until October it looks like.

I was approached by a customer that wanted a Carnivour sheath. The problem is that the handle has a lot of contours in it, and I just don't know how well a sheath will mold to it (may be too hard to draw). The real problem, however, is that I don't have a Carnivour to work with and experiment with!

Professor,

Have you tried to use the thumb lock to OPEN and close the blade on the Carnivour? I am left-handed and use my pointing finger to actuate the lock: pull back on it and swing the blade open, pull back on lock and swing the blade shut - small wrist moment/circular quick flick. Using this technique, I don't touch the thumb stud.

Another thing to get around the lack of thumb stud on one side- I use a hex cap screw (2-56 thread) that is 1/4" long on the opposite side of the thumb stud. This head of the cap screw protrudes enough so that you can actuate the blade if you need to (it would be nicer to have a full sized thumb stud I know). If you want some hex cap screws to try out send me an e-mail with your mailing address.

Give the thumb lock trick to open/close the blade. In a pinch (emergency) the hard downward wrist snap with a little elbow motion gets the blade out pretty quick, too

- yeah, I know it is bad for the pivot stop
