I just got my new Chambriard "The Compact" knife from World Knives, excellent customer service, It is perfect pocket size 16.5cm open, 9.5cm closed and it weights 46g. This is the most Elegant knife I own to date. Philippe Chambriard makes beautiful knives! Highly recommended!

Great looking, does it have a blade stop to keep the blade from hitting the back spring and dulling when you close it?

It opens and fits very tight and secure in the back spring, no play at all. When closing you do it by holding back the blade, if so the blade stop will prevent the edge from slapping to the spring. This knife is two hand operation, opening closing.

Wonderful looking knife. Sleek and elegant. I too got a Chambriard while back, a Compagnon with Oak handles. I think you will dig your knife more and more as time goes on.

This more compact Le Thiers design is very attractive indeed.

And as JP Smith says: I expect you to like it more and more over time. I have that with my Chambriard Compagnon.

A number of French knife knuts don't like Chambriard that much mainly because it's already a (small) factory but I don't mind that industrial approach as the "soul" is not lost and the quality is definitely there.

I also think that this kind of suave elegant yet capable knife is a perfect antidote against the overly tactical focus of oh so many commercial designs.
