After six months of design changes, hunting down just the right materials and ordinary patience, I finally had this made for me by Kaleb Reynolds aka Muskratman. (Thanks to Bill DeShivs for the recommendation!)
I call it my "Mammoth Tank". She weighs a ton and is probably just as dangerous thrown either closed or open, but is a joy to hold. It started with a modern 11"Latama, then I went with long 3/8" thick sambar twist mokume bolsters and elongated button, a slender, earless profile, mammoth bark scales from and some file work. She really is a beast.
Next on my list is to contact Pat Havlin about a square button. Just gotta' figure out how to reach him.
