HOLY MACKREL! My only other spydies have been small ones. I thought the delica would be more demure! You know, delica = delicate. NOT! I got the one with the black blade, it's awesome! I can see why it's one of the more popular ones, it looks like it's going to be a good do-all knife. It was hair popping sharp also! I can only imagine with the endura, military and civilian blades look like!

I also have a native III ordered, I think I'm going to be pleasantly surprized at that one as well. My only regret is that I didn't order at least one of those in full spydie edge.

Congrats on your new knives, I like the Delica much, good quality knife in a mid sized package. The Native should be pretty cool as well, I don't own one but when you pick it up in your hand it just feels good. Don't worry, you are not done yet, you'll get a full Spyderedge knife sooner than you think, because you will soon (if not allready) be infected by the "Spyderbug"

Cheers,

Rob

The Native III won't open as easily as the Delica due to geometry of handle and hole. But it IS a comfy knife. I wish I ....could.... use the Native but my arthritic thumb prevents it.

The Delica is a SNEAKY thing. Flat wedge grind COMBINED with chisel grind COMBINED with full serrations (on mine) COMBINED with VG-10 makes it the absolute SCARIEST sharp it can be.

I swear that damn magic VG-10 will sharpen to infinity.

...gotta agree, I have the black bladed plain edge VG-10.. my third Delica. But it looks (to me) so cool that I resist putting it in harms way..

I found that at first the native was a tad stiffer but still easy to open. I have some very hard to open folders, like the gerber e-z out which is very hard for me to open one handed, and some old heavy duty brass bolster type folders that I can barely open with the nail nick. I like it a lot also but the thickness of the handle may limit my carrying of it. I barely know the delica is in my pocket.

And my latest impulse by is a fully serrated endura and a serrated dodo. I need to not go on the computer very late at night when I'm not thinking straight!!! So far my attempts to sale my knife on e-bay has been counterproductive!! The good news is I've aquired a few cool knives at some good prices.

My first Spydie was an orig. model Delica. I gave six of them out to the groomsmen at my wedding, and kept one for myself. It has a special warm fuzzy spot in my heart. I even carried mine on me when I flew to the Maine woods for my honeymoon, back well before 9/11. Recently, I fell so in love with the black-blade, olive-handle Delica that I eventually bought three.

What little honeys!
