My New Dragonfly

Well, I just got my new zdp-189 dragonfly in the mail Thursday. I'm super stoked about it. It came incredibly sharp, and I love the size and the way it feels in my hand.

I plan on using it at my job. I have been using my pm2 as of late, but the rules on the use of personal knives has never been clearly stated. They will issue some big, awkward safety box cutters for those who need a knife, but most guys in my department will just use their own little pocket knife. I wanted something that I could conceal a little better and that didn't look as intimidating when I pulled it out, but I don't want to be responsible for the company banning all of our personal knives because "Somebody brought a weapon to work." I think that the dragonfly will do very nicely in this role.

I'm still kinda new to the forum but I come check what's new during my breaks at work almost everyday. I'm not a big poster but love reading the threads and learning new things. So, thank you to all of you who make this a great place.

I think the Dragonfly is one of the best small knives out there; sounds like you'll put it to good use at work. My ZDP-189 version also came incredibly and frighteningly sharp.

Have to agree. The DF2 is my favorite in their line of little big knives. My wife took my first one, so proud of her, so I ended up with another.

Post a pic of it working at work.

Yeah I'm trying to get my wife a little more interested in knives. She's not quite there yet but she's very supportive of my interest in them.

I work in a plant that allows no personal items (which is part of why I wanted my knife to be smaller) , but I will try to get some pics up.

Thanks for the support.

That is a great knife. My ZDP-189 Nishijin came extremely sharp, also.

RNBTexas, my wife loved my orange DF so much she decided it was hers :) I had to buy another one for myself. She is not a knife person but she carries this one everyday, everywhere. It fits her tiny hand perfectly.

You may be able to find a pink one out there, still. There will probably be a purple one coming up, per Sal.

Box cutters are good but pocket knives are bad? People are so weak. I think humanity is losing all sense of rational thought.

Got myself a G-10 Dragonfly. I love the design and it's great for when I don't feel like carying much of a knife on me. Can't even tell it's there.

A G-10 Dragonfly pretty much chased my previously favored Case slipjoint out of my pocket. Since then, I've bought 3 other variations of the little knife. I rotate carrying any of several larger second knives but the Dragonfly is always with me. If I absolutely had to pick a favorite knife, that would be it.

I have a Dragonfly in ZDP 189 as well and it is an amazing knife. Unscientific statement here, but, I feel that all of my ZDP Spydercos are the sharpest out of the box knives I've ever owned.

Wow this thread is perfect I was just looking through my crappy knives set and found my DF2 and I plan on carrying this a lot more often. I don't even know how it ended up where it did, but it's a great little knife and I'm sure the ZDP version is just awesome. Enjoy the blade and don't get it confiscated. :)

I should pick on up myself, but I think I'm going with a bigger knife before I venture into the smaller blades. Who knows. Congrats to you Sir on the great pick up!!

Not to start a political discussion but, I find it odd that moste sheeple figure a box cutter is a tool and everything else is a weapon. We all know what was used on 9-11, it certainly wasn't a "weapon type" knife......dare I remind some, it was box cutters.

Almost anything can be used as a weapon. Fists come to mind as frequently used weapons but nobody clamors about people having hands.

I have been carrying a G10 DF2 for a week now and I am impressed at how well it does for being so compact.
I can't believe I waited so long to buy one I only wish I would have bought the ZDP version.

I'm glad I found this thread. I had a hard time choosing my 1st Spyderco. I decided on a G10 Dragonfly. I really need a smaller knife for work. Next I will get a bigger model. Can't wait to try the DF!

Yes, the G10 DF is my favorite of the series. I have others, but this one stays with me. I may carry other Spydercos but this is my pocket knife and it is with me all the time (now if it only came in royal blue...)

Oh man, that is great to hear. It looks like the perfect size for EDC. Also work usage and not frighten any employees, lol. They seem to have many color shades but I don't like the stock scales. Though the G10 scales look amazing!

Hey I sharpening mine up today and I noticed that there was a bit of rust on the inside of the spydie hole. This hasn't happened to my other Spydercos. Luckily it cleaned out just fine with some naphtha. Anyone else seen this before?

Im planning on ordering a G10 DF this week and from what Im reading from all of you I wont be disappointed!!

Congrats on the Dragonfly. Am waiting for my own to arrive. 3rd Spyderco, and am becoming rapidly addicted!

Sad that we have to conceal cutting edges from people at work.

I have 2 spydercos now and 2 more on the way. Loving the dragonfly the most still. The blade shape is so perfect and amazingly sharp! How is this knife so cheap! :0 it is very strongly built!
