I'm a little late getting this posted, but too much travel kept me away from the forums.
Santa brought me a new engraved Buck 500 Eagle Scout knife. The little Eagle commemorative Camillus that I got way back in 1996 gave up the ghost a while back, and an upgrade seemed in order.
Needless to say, I'm a very happy camper. The 500 is eminently pocketable and is probably going to be an almost-EDC for me. I wish they offered the same engraving in the 501, but you won't find me complaining.

My fear now is that I'm going to want to get more 500s, since it's such a great knife.

Will do, imafritz--gotta fetch the camera.
Buck has an unadvertised offering for Eagle Scouts where they will sell you a current production (mine is 2012 dated) 500 Duke engraved with your name and the Eagle logo on one side and (optionally) your troop number and date on the other side. It comes with a black leather sheath, too, and it's pretty inexpensive. I think this is a good reflection of Buck's support for scouting. I read somewhere that the Eagle Scout knife deal goes far back into the company's history, but I'm just working from memory. Whatever the case, it's a grand knife with good heft and feel, since it has stainless rather than nickel bolsters (from what I've read here).

It's a great token of my time in Scouting many years ago and will make a heck of a user.

Thanks for that heads up on the Eagle scout knife. Could you or someone PM me to tell me who to contact at Buck, I'm an Eagle scout and would love one of those knives.

That is a great looking knife. Thanks for sharing that great photograph.

Geddinight, The person to contact is:
