Greetings all.

I attended Blade this year with the freedom of having no particular purchase plan. Particularly since I would be arriving on Friday afternoon - well after the Thursday Pit / hotel room feeding frenzy, I figured I'd just walk the floor and look over the knives, and if something appealed to me enough that I couldn't leave it behind, well, I wouldn't. You know, like a normal person.

One thing I did have in mind in general terms, however, was picking up a nice everyday user. I had no specific idea as to the knife itself, other than it be reasonable priced, well made and attractive.

I saw a couple very nice simple utility fixed blades that would fit the bill, but when I happened across Roger Massey's table and saw a sweet little jigged bone slipjoint folder, I knew I'd found my knife.

Roger has turned out truly excellent slipjoint (and other) folding knives for some time. And he has done so in his typically quiet, unassuming way. Shouting from the rooftops is not his way.

His slipjoints, in particular, have always been a tremendous value. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that two of the best deals in exceptional working MS knives are a Massey slipjoint folder and a Massey sheephorn drop point hunter.

Roger agreed to ship the knife to me (I will NOT check baggage on an airplane unless they MAKE me) and it arrived safely yesterday. One of the things I had been absolutely kicking myself over when I boarded my flight from Atlanta was that it did not enter my brain to try to find a little sheath for the knife - either a small puch deal from Kenny or a little stingray slip sheath from Culpepper.

Well, when I opened the box, I saw Roger had taken care of that for me himself.

I'm going to really enjoy toting this thing around, God willing, for many years to come.

Thanks Rog.

That sheath....

Quality abound.

Thanks gents.

Russ - I'm sure it would be up for some whitetail, but I prefer my fixed blades for that application.

Will - Roger told me the steel at Blade and of course it has dropped out of my head. It's not forged, though (hence no MS stamp). I'll find out when he gets back from a trip next week. It's a shade under 3 1/2" closed and 6 1/8" open.

Very nice Roger. Roger makes a very clean knife, understated but with elegant touches. I am sure it will serve you very well. Roger is also one of the nicest people. Great score!

Beautiful knife. It reminds me of something my grandfather carried. I aspire to make something that nice one day.

Very nice indeed. I've never managed to carry a slipjoint as a sole EDC as I am addicted to pocket clips and one hand opening but I do love to look at them.

That's a beauty Roger. Congratulations on getting a new EDC. I love slip joint knives, I have EDC'ed slip joints for about 35 years, never a beauty like that though.

I can see why you picked this one up. It's a very sweet little knife, and the surpise holster...what a bonus!
