Picked this up in a trade deal last week:

It arrived Monday and I can't stop playing with it. Most solid, smooth, tank-like knife I've ever handled. ZERO stickyness in the lockup, but feels like its stronger than a fixed blade.

The knife has been used, as the pictures show. But that only adds character, it obviously didn't mind! The blade is in fantastic shape. Has been resharpened but whoever did it knew what they were doing and couldn't have been done too many times...

I got it (plus cash) for a Strider I owned. Never cared for the Strider I unloaded, but I'm kind of obsessed with this...

The backspacer is reportedly a custom titanium job, and while I don't really like knife "bling" the checkering is actually pretty awesome and looks like it was made for the knife. Adds some nice grippiness to it.

So....what do y'all think?? :D

I'm jealous brother! Nice pics of the new addition. I'm looking forward to handling it next time I see you.

Looks sweet, looks a lot better because it has been used IMO!

Simply awesome. I've recently added the HD-7 to my grail list. It's such a great way to have a beater knife that's just a little bit more special without having to go full on custom.

I picked up a CQC-12 HD a while back, same deal Ti framelock, but a bowie blade.

If you give me yours, I'd have a set! :p

Thanks everyone! Yeah, I really dig it. It carries so nice in the pocket. And the more I play with that custom checkered backspacer the more I really dig it. I wish I knew where it came from....

i have 3 HD-7s, all stock though. Yours looks amazing.

3?? WOW!! Nice! One of these days I'd like to add a G10/Ti HD-7 to my collection. I keep my eyes peeled...

I wouldn't pass on a good deal on a 12 but I just can't seem to come around on the bowie blade. how do you like it?

I like them and not just on the Emersons. A bowie has the straight cutting edge and belly for ordinary work, and a needle point you don't get in most other shapes. I like the Spyderco Chinook for the same reasons.
