Thanks all for your wisdom and guidance in finding what I think is my new favorite pattern. The humble and classic Barlow. I have yet to get something high end, but I'm even in love with the Rough Riders I baught to find out if I really liked the Barlows.

I ordered on in faux celluloid tortoise shell, one in smooth white bone, and one in gunstock jigged brown bone.

Here are a few pics. (My first attempt at semi-artistic knife pics ;) ) Enjoy.

Thank again for all the input.

I can't help myself, I have to say they are nice looking pocket knives. From your exellent photos they appear to be very well finished. I am drawn to the smooth white bone. Is there a sealer of some type on the surface of the bone? I only ask as I'm curious if it would be possable to lightly dye the bone.

Very nice, use in good health!

Some great pictures, and a great pattern. I`m tempted to try RR again, thwe older one I had wasnt that good, I was not pleased at all.

Thanks all, Jackknife, I would assume the bone has some type of sealant over the bone as it dosen't seem porous at all. It seems to be impregnated with it in fact. Although I've never tried to dye bone, I'd imagine it'd be quite hard with this particular set of scales.

Stockman242, I love them, although I haven't handled many high end slipjoints either. What problems did you have with your first RR? Just curious.

It was a knife I would have send back to the factory, if It came from ANY US manufacturer. The scales were poorly fitted (not flush and a gap between the bolster and the scale), one scale was thicker than the other one and they were obviously painted.
The SHEEPSFOOT had a slight recurve to it, I dont know how they did it.

Anyway, I gave it away to a non knife nut, who promptly lost it.

Glad they improved QC.

Butcher1 its FM 21-76 The Army survival field manual. I thought the illustrations were cool and they feature a similar clip point blade.

Stockman, wow that sounds horrible, I'm glad they improved too.

From all the good things I'm hearing about them lately, I'll be sure to pick one up.
