I had to have Clyde put down on January 13th. I haven't felt right ever since. That's about to change with the addition of Harry on March 3rd.

This is Harry...

Harry {PFA = People For Animals}

Looking at PFA’s website made me cry.
When I saw you, I then decided to apply.
You had such an awesome, crooked snout…
No one would pick you, I could not doubt.

I knew you were the lost buddy I needed.
Let me be the human for him, I pleaded.
They wanted to know all about my busy life.
Where would you sleep? Did I have a wife?

What would happen to you if I had to move?
I’d take you with me… they had to approve!
Would I be able to cover medical expenses;
Food? When will they come to their senses?

Well… the form is complete & has been sent.
I’m hoping I’m as good as my loving intent!
Did I sign the form, dot my i’s and cross my t’s?
Damn… I’m a nervous wreck… where’s my car keys?

Harry, my lonesome boy, we passed the test!
Hands down… we were truely the very best!
We’ll try to sort things out… that’s for sure.
Our trust & love of each other will long endure.

I’ll see you Saturday March 3rd and don’t be late.
I’m sure our face to face meeting will be just great.
There’s paperwork involved and of course, the fee.
Good dogs like you, Harry, are certainly not ‘free’.

Harry looks like a very handsome boy!! He is lucky to be going home with YOU!!

Harry looks like a good boy, with maybe a touch of ornery. ;)

Best wishes to anyone who adopts a stray or rescue.

Best of luck with Harry. He looks like a good boy. More pics when he's home!

Gary, your tale regarding you and Harry has made me give more thought to getting a dog from the pound in the future. As I've told you on JD, you're a good man, and Harry is a lucky pup.

Having gone through this more times than I care to recall, it is nice to be smiling for someone else while a few tears start to well-up a little.

Best to you, yours and Harry on this new adventure. I already know it will be a great one.

Gus

Will be looking to hear from you and Harry on Saturday...hope you take homecoming pics:cool:

Wow, what a neat dog. I don't know if Clyde was a shelter dog, but you know that a shelter dog will love you more and really appreciate his new home and best friend. Best of luck to you and Harry. You both deserve it.

Having lost our third adopted grey, Moby, last October I know what you're going through. Harry looks like a great one! Big hugs for both of you. (Yea, I'm a guy - so what? :) )

WAHOOOOOOO! I'm glad you have a new buddy to take care of you. Harry looks like a fine dog, and I'm hoping you post a few more pics of him soon. He's one lucky dog, got himself a good home.

Thank you sir. Thank you all for the kind words! There will be pictures galore! I've had more than 6 dogs over my lifetime; all but 2 were stray mutts that I found on the street before they were placed in a pound. And like Gus eluded to...the adventures have been great ones! Harry was found on the streets of New York and taken in by People for Animals. Here's the first picture that was posted on their website of Harry...

My first impression was... no one is going to adopt that dog! I immediatly began filling out the online application to adopt him. When asked by the woman in charge of Harry... "What made you decide to want to adopt Harry?" all I said was... "Every dog needs someone who cares and a 2nd chance and I need Harry."

You gonna change your name to Harrytz?

Nope... Clydetz has worked well so far... I'll probably change the avatar though. Clyde has served me well over the years.

How could you NOT fall totally in love with a face like Harry's? I bet he used to be a boxer (no pun intended) during his "street days." I'm sure he won most of them.

With his muzzle pointed to the right, it will be easier to snuggle up with him because his muzzle won't get in the way when he lays his head on your chest.

Another lifetime of memories to be created. You and Harry are so lucky to have found each other. I wish I could be there this Saturday to share in the joy.

Best of luck to you and your new boy.

TJ

Excellent! Such a good home should never be absent its dog.

Are you sure that's "Harry?" Looks like Arnie to me -- my uncle's dog when I was a tad of 8...

That dog has a LOT of character.

Part two of Harry's saga...

I’ll talk to Michaele and listen to all she has to say.
She’s already told me to watch that you don’t stray.
I understand you can run as fast as a bat out of hell.
But believe me Harry… you don’t want to hear me yell.

I picked up a bag of your favorite Eukanuba food,
Along with 2 bags of delicious T Bonz snacks, dude!
Yep! I’m going to spoil you rotten, my furry friend.
You’ll get the love you crave… we’ll start a new trend!

I’ll show you the winding paths through the trees
Where Clyde took me as he sniffed the breeze.
You’ll meet Clyde’s dog buddies I haven’t seen
Since that final day Clyde and I were on the scene.

The kids will run up to us and ask… ‘What’s his name?
Can I pet your dog? Is he friendly? Is he tame?’
I’ll answer all their questions while you stand tall.
Let them hug & pet you, talk to you… give it your all!

I know at least one youngster will ask with eyes wide,
“Hey mister, haven’t seen you around… where’s Clyde?”
The tears will form but I’ll try to hold them back.
“Clyde is in my heart; want to give Harry a snack?”

Twice around the block & they’ll know to call you Harry.
Funny thing my buddy, they still think my name is Barry!
We better get a move on if we’re going to take a ride.
Coffee is waiting & I would like to have you by my side.

One thing for sure, you know Harry is one tough s.o.b. I can't wait to meet him at the NJKCA meeting I attend (really Ron, its true, I will come to one this year). Oh, and you too Gary... ;)

Good job, man, Harry looks very affectionate and I hope you two have many years of companionship ahead of you.
