A few months ago I was looking for a Kiridashi and came across a carbon fiber model, so I thought it would be cool to have one in G10, so I used my Google Fu. As it turns out there is literally no one doing it...except for TW Brands Gear, so I ordered one, a Covert Defender.

I decided I wanted another so I sold some paracord and low and behold I had enough for two more. :) I called Travis and asked if he would make me - Covert Defender in Ghost Jade G10, and a Pocket Razorback Defender in B&W and he said sure.

What makes G10 knives special? Well G10 is made from thin layers of woven fiberglass and a super hard epoxy (often colored except). What results is an extremely hard and durable laminate. It won't rust, water proof, it won't rot, it is non metallic (detectable), and easy to maintain. It also happens to look great.

Travis uses G10 with more layers thicknesses of 3/16 - 1/4" thick for more durability, then he hand grinds each blade himself and the quality speaks for itself. They come in a lot of colors too. He makes a kydex taco sheath for them that can be hung from the neck by a piece of paracord or slipped in a pocket for discrete carry.

Oh yeah, you can also get them in Carbon Fiber.

These are easily maintained, if the G10 ever needs brightening just wipe down with some mineral oil. If they need sharpening just use an emery board, yep just like you would use for your nails.

Here's a size difference so you can see the difference in size between the Covert Defender (larger) and the Razorback Pocket Defender.

Here's the Ghost Jade one I special ordered and I am so proud of.

I also have one of his wallets and a Ghost Jade lanyard bead.

I really like these blades, I will put one in my pack and the other two will cycle with my other EDC gear. He has some other great designs and although I will hold off ordering another one for a while, it won't be easy and not because I want too. :D

BTW, I'm in no way affiliated with or trying to push his stuff, I like it and thought you would as well, that's all!

They're pretty damn neat. If I had to pick between ceramic or one of those I think I'd choose the G10. They'd make a great backpack/truck knife as a back up to a normal blade.

I've seen G10 knuckles and such, but never a full knife out of it. Thanks for showing us!

I've made a few, but they were mainly intended for stabbing.

Makes a neat beach knife.

Those are really cool. I envy the guys dog, there didn't look to be anything wrong with that beef. Thanks for posting this, I own some CS FGX stuff in "kraton"? kydex? whatever it is, a spike and a push dagger, how would you say these compare to the Cold Steel FGX stuff (If you've tried both)?

I have a Delta Dart or whatever it is from Cold steel and it is really flexible. G10 is very durable and strong, not flexible at all in comparison.
These are sharp but not made for cutting like a knife even though they will cut, the edge sharpness won't hold up to daily slicing tasks like steel. They would make a great defense blade which is what I bought them for.

Watch the first five minutes of post #4.

I feel like they are offered at a price point that makes them an attractive option...to give you options where you might want a light blade or being able to carry where you might not otherwise be able too--IF necessary.
