I was going to get rid of this knife......but then I thought better of it.

I just got her last night in the mail. She's a beauty to me. At first I thought 'dang this thing is heavy and a bit larger than I want' (being 3 full back-springs and 4 1/8" closed. Then I got my head out of the clouds...

It's a Great Eastern Cutlery Northfield Whittler Stockman. I just ordered this knife about 4 days ago. I just got it yesterday. It is a tank of a knife but it is awesome. It's got yellow banana peel bone scales, 1095 blades, 3 full back-springs and it's beautiful. It has a long pull on the main clip blade. There is also a small spear-point blade and a small spey blade.

It comes with what looks like a brass stamping of a GEC blade. After talking to Mike at Collectorknives.net he let me know it was an opener in case my fingers were not ready for the strong GEC springs. ;)

It was awful nice of the folks at Collectorknives.net to send a little extra like that.

This knife has pinched bolsters too that are at a slight angle. There is just nothing bad to say about it. I love the round tube that it came in and the waxpaper. That's just total old-school goodness. I'm going to buy another GEC knife (a Barlow) just because the quality and fit and finish are just unreal. I will now be buying these knives for friends who don't have knives.

Enjoy the pics. This baby is a keeper. I'm loving the Banana Peel Bone too.

Great looking knife. I love the bolsters and the banana peel. The banana peel looks much better in person and feels great. Congratulations on a fine knife.

Nice looking knife, David. I think you made a good decision.

Hmmm. I'm wondering what one has to do to merit a free blade opener from CK.net. I must not be a good enough customer.

Well I was going to order a Cuban and had placed the order. The last specimen that they had in stock looked nothing like the others. So I was given a few options (that they didn't have to do but they did). They are good folks and Mike just sent that along as a "thanks" for having to choose a different knife and send 3-4 emails back and forth. They would have given me a refund if I wanted but I really wanted a GEC so I just ordered something else I liked. :)

Great pics, I still need to get a GEC. I did see your thread on the FS area, was thinking about snagging it too...;)

That's a real beauty! Gonna' have to break down and by myself a GEC at some point.

I like it. Good choice
Very fine pictures.
I have a couple of GEC's (Mike sent me openers also )
When I opened my first GEC I thought wow STOUT. Beautiful craftsmanship AND heavy duty work tool.

Small side note for you Cocobolo fans :)

I sent the nice folks at GEC this Cocobolo board. 30" x 3" x 1" and a couple of other dark sticks. They are going to put together a model #73 for me leaving mucho wood left over. If you like the look maybe you can make a little noise with your dealer and see what's up with the rest.

Please take that up privately with the vendor off the forum.

Thats a great lookin knife. It gives a feeling of years gone by looking at it. I don't know if its the scales or bolsters or a combination of everything...

I like the extra blade. Thats really cool  Those must be some very heavy springs :D

That is a real nice knife. I will be ordering my first GEC soon. I can't wait! I love that they come with 1095.

Pretty thing. Thanks for the pics.

Very nice. So, I'm guessing it's off the market? I was rifling through my stuff to see what I could offer you, lol. Glad you kept it, it looks like it'll handle whatever your others won't/can't.

To prevent any confusion on the part of newer members, please keep all discussion pertaining to trades to the swap meet thread or email/PM's. Thanks.
