Ok, giant to ME! ;)

Thanks to Darren for the pics on his website.

All that is left is a door. Would this be overkill for this small a forge?

Thanks for looking.

Thanks. Yes, I have a small shop and I thought it would be nice to have some kind of permanent deflection system instead of just pilling bricks at the back.

I think you did a great job on your forge! Let us know the results! I'm guessing your using Mapp gas.

Great job on the forge if you find the mapp gas is too slow try using one of Darren's 1/2" propane burners. I just upgraded my small mapp gas forge to a 3/4" burner from Darren and it really makes a difference.

Very nice! You obviously spent some time planning this out. I like the handle on top and the stock rest in front. The heat deflector in the back is a great idea too. I also like the ring on the side to hold the torch. Very cool!

Ed, can't take credit. Most of the design comes from the galery of forges on Darren's site. I'll let you all know how it does. I may upgrade to Darren's burner as soon as the play money is there.

Thanks for your good words.

Hi Pad, That looks really great, you did a fantastic job on that little forge! If you have any construction pics you want to forward along to me I'll add it to the forge gallery when I do my next update....it's long overdue for an update and I've got something like 20 - 30 more forges to add to the site...yours would be a welcome addition.

Also, we're getting ready to add a line of 1/2" burners (kits and completed) to our website in the next few weeks just for smaller sized forges like yours and up to 6" diameter tube forges. :)

Thanks Darren. I dont have any construction pics but I can send you better pics of the finished forge if you want.

Very nice job on a smaller forge. It looks very similar to the one I finished last month. Just a suggestion on the brick in the back. If you bring the brick up flush to the rear hole the forge will heat quicker and maintain heat a little better. You can always remove it for longer stock. Mine is a little bigger and I use Darren's bigger burner, but once it reaches catalytic stage it runs on less than two pounds propane very nicely.

Here is an update pic. Following everybody’s advice to close the back, I drilled a couple more hole and voila! an adjustable back door to the forge. I will work on the front door and post pics when I am done.
