I got a brand new gladius about a month ago. What can I say but that this blade is AMAZING, and that I am a Busse fan for life now. I am looking for an Argonne Assault now (actually two, one for me and another as a gift for a friend). I am under the impression that these are pretty rare, but if anybody knows of anything that I don't about where to find them PLEASE let me know. Also, how often does Busse release blades on their site? I hear the competition for ordering can be intense....As a final question, does anybody know where to learn about what makes a Busse knive Nuclear vs. standard? I have had some people tell me it is the finish, but I read somewhere that it actually has to do with thew sharpening?

nuclear has to do with serrations on top i believe. but nuclear melt down has to do with a certain rounding of the edges

Nuclear grinds are typically varriations with lots of serrations, often on the spine etc.
For example there is a nuclear aragon assault that has a sharpened spine with serrations the whole length of the spine.

Different than this one? (not doubting you, just don't remember another one similar to this.)

Ya, different than that one. Minus the harpoon tip, with a fully sharpened spine serriations all the way down if I remember corectly. I think I have seen one black handled version, and one ironwood??? Beadblasted with a rough/textured wood handle.

When I am not on my phone I might have to try and digg up photos.

Here is one I was talking about (stolen pic, I think from Jaxx's post a long time ago).

Neclear AA...

Another pic from Gatorzingo (possible the same knife?)

I was sure there was also a sweet nuke AA with a rough/textured hardwood handle of some kind out there, but it did not turn up in my search.

In searching around, I think the "weathered Ironwood" version I was thinking about just had the sharpened top clip but was not nuke.

I could not find a pic, but it was a Magnum AA with weathered desert ironwood with a tan finish.

I still think, for some reason, I saw one with the weathered handle in iron wood with a nuke spine, but I might just be dreaming that beaut up.

Oh... and congrats on the Gladius!!!

Heck of a first Busse!

Welcome to the madness. :D

.

1) Nice job with the Gladius, it's a nice big knife, short sword, dirk? Umm...... anyway, hope to see some tree carnage soon.

2) The Argonne Assualt. I think the was the first pic of a Busse I ever saw. And I've wanted one since, it's such a bad ass knife. For a while I thought my grail knife was a TT KZ with coyote g-10. But I've realized that it is an AA.

Good luck on your quest

Thanks for the info guys! My buddy has been a Busse fan for years, has LOTS of Busses, but could never explain the nuclear aspects clearly. The more Busses I look at on eBay and BladeForums, the more I realize how deeply and passionately I am becoming addicted.....Jerry Busse is one helluva knife maker! Since I am quickly realizing that the AA is more of a dream than a likely purchase, can anyone recommend a good second Busse? I am thinking either an NMSFNO, Hellrazor, or a leaner meaner:confused:

I have a NMSFNO and love it, it's a good all round knife.

Or, Skunk could hurry up and put the SAR 6 on the company store website...........Maybe one day.................
