:) just found this umfaan at a local gun show here in NC..no box or papers, but the price was right! asking price was 275, she dropped to 250, i countered with 230,walked out with it! it has been carried but very little.someone tried to sharpen it, but it is dull, minor scratches near the tip of blade, no big deal..question for the experts....inside handles no date code.is this common? also what type steel, and the whats the pattern called. thanks for looking and hopefully a little help:D

No gun shows like that here in Michigan! I think the last time I saw any CRK at a local gun show was three or four years ago. I don't go even go anymore b/c it's a waste. But I do find plenty on BF!

I'm more of a Seb guy in general but I'll try to help. Most of the early Umfaans I have seen from 1997 weren't anodized - excluding a couple of prototypes. Around that time is also when date stamps were added to the "Regular" Sebenza slabs. There are a smattering of Sebs from 1997's that don't have date stamps, so it may be from that time period.

All the Umfaans I've seen have BG42 steel blades.

No idea what the design was called.

Sorry I couldn't help more that this. Getting a sweet deal like that is like candy! Great score.
