Yesterday I received my first Gransfors Bruks axe. My Small Forest Axe was on my desk when I got back from lunch. I ordered it from Cutsworth Knives.
WWW.CUTSFORTHKNIVES is the addy.
(As I am sure many of y'all know.)
Now I am more of a stainless steel/exotic metal type of guy. I love my synthetic handles and micarta. But this axe just feels good. It was very well balanced, and pretty sharp. This is my first true good axe. It feels big enough to handle big jobs, but is unobtrusive enough to fit in/on my ruck.
I likes it much!
I do have one small concern though. It may not even be a concern at all. Many of y'll here have wwaayy more axe/hatchet knowledge than I.
There looks to be a couple or so of rust-looking spots in the rough areas of the head. It looks very dark brown.
Any ideas?
