Just came today.

Sure wish I could focus tight enough to show the detail on the metal spacers in the leather. Thin and alternating color silver/gold/silver.

VERY happy with it.

:) :) :)

That's a beautiful knife :) I've got a few Grecos (Explorer, folding Whisper, Falcon), and I love 'em. Out of curiosity, how much did you pay for that knife (if I may be so bold)?

Not hesitant at all. $180 including shipping.

A friend of mine also bought one and he got an email that today John Greco still had 2 left.

:)

Wow. I am almost beyond words. I have a Greco Whisper that I am enormously fond of, but that knife is one that I could easily fall in love with. And no doubt it is a tremendous amount of knife for the money.

If I had any money to spend on knives right now ... but who needs to go to college anyways? ... no ... must resist temptation...

If you have bought a knife or knives made by Greco, you probably won't regret it. I don't.

I have an MST and to be honest the finish is shockingly rough, but the knife is very well balanced and will make a great user.

Lavan, I called John today and have one ordered. We talked for about an hour, nice guy to deal with. It's a shame he won't be making knives any more. Looking forward to getting it. It sure is a great looking piece. Can't wait. :D

You will probably find the flaw in the setup. I have been to the shoe repair shop today to have my sheath loop stitched in place.

It comes loose and we all know that will drive you nuts. But other than that, it's a great knife.

I think.....

I just sent John an email cussing him out for puttin a bee-yoo-tee-ful WALL HANGER handle on a WORKIN blade.

DANG!

I tole him the use I had planned for it: Go to Yosemite or Yellowstone where there ARE bears and strut around the LODGE wit da knife.
If, however, you get drunk and stumble outside and actually MEET a bear, you will remember that your knife is too pretty to use on him so you get et.

So.....optimum use is.....LODGE WEAR.... to impress the "knife bunnies."

:D :D :D

Thanks for the info, Lavan. I agree, the Greco knives are great, even if the finish is somewhat rough.

I would think that John Greco knows as much as any other knifemaker when it comes to putting a fine finish on a knife. But a finely finished knife just wouldn't be in the Greco style, ie. affordable tough users. In reply to a query of mine as to why he does not mark his name on some of his knives, John Greco said that he does not need to as his knives are distinctively his in design and make and are known in the business. Maybe this is the reason why Greco knives remain a little rough looking.

Wish I had seen a picture of the Greco/Scagel earlier this year before I used up my knife budget for the year.

What a refreshing reply. The budget is used. Good show!

I predict that airyq will own LOTS of knives in his lifetime and also be able to afford to KEEP them.

That is a very good way to avoid what plagues a bunch of Americans these days. Got the money (or budget?)....then buy it. Budget won't allow? Wait.

Bravo.

:)
