picked up a BK11 after I saw pictures of BRL's and decided I really liked it and wanted to follow in his footsteps

Stripped the coating, blued with perma blue then soaked in bleach. Polished with 800 and 1000 grit paper, re-blued then wrapped the handle in hemp and covered in epoxy. At first it was too small for my hands but after the wrapping it fits quite nicely and I really like it.

WOW, I would really like to do something like that to my 11 too,,,,,....
Hmm, would be hard keeping that hemp-handle away from some of my biker-friends I think, LOL....

Think maybe I`m going to put some wooden handles on mine, I have been working with some really hard Brazilian wood lately.
Think that would be really nice, it is dark brown with hints of black in it. (So hard I had to special order drillbits to work it)
Stuff is so hard you can`t barely make a mark in it with the tip of a brand new Mora:eek:

Dude epic!!1! That really came out nice. I love the etch. And the best news that in a couple weeks you'll have most of the epoxy gone off your hands.

That looks great. I may take this on as a project. Even for a newbie like me, I may be successful!

That is a fantastic mod! I really like that blued/bleached blade finish - really sets yours apart. I wonder how it would look in some of the Micarta pants? Either way, great job!
