I gave my last Randall Model 14 CDT to a friend headed to Iraq back in 2004. Took me a while, but I finally replaced it! This one is waiting for me when I get home in September:

I can't wait to put it to good use in the woods and hills!

That's a beauty Ron...I like the handle! Is it carbon or stainless? Stay safe and Godspeed brother:thumbup:

It is carbon. If stainless, a large S would be stamped after the logo just forward of the guard.

As jw2n pointed out, it is an O-1 carbon steel blade. I have owned both carbon steel and stainless steel Randalls in the past, and have decided I like the carbon steel blades the best. and before we get into the "carbon vs. stainless steel" argument, I carried a carbon steel 6" Randall Model 1 in the jungles of Central America back in the '80's with no problems at all.

And thanks, ROCK! I'll be home from this rotation the middle of September.

Regards,
Ron

Brad, nothing wrong with the Cold Steel knives! Between 2005 and 2008, I carried and used a Cold Steel SRK over here in Iraq. Carbon V is an excellent steel! That knife will give you excellent service! It may not have the "reputation" of a Randall, but it will work just fine...if that was what I had, I would not feel "under-knifed", if you know what I mean!

that Randall should last a life time. My #14 has been chopping, cutting, slicing and most everything else for years. It is in perfect shape after all the chores it has preformed.

You are right, Mannlicher! I plan on passing it on to my Grandson when he gets to be a teenager...about 9 or 10 years from now. He's my hiking and "field-roaming" buddy right now at age 5.
