I have a LG Optimus G Pro, a comparable phone to the Galaxy4. Since I don't have a computer, I use the dogsh*t out of this phone. I got it approx June 2013 and as of late, it seems like battery life isn't what it used to be.

Factory battery:

So I searched Amazon for aftermarket batteries and found this gem...

It boasts 3+ days of heavy use. We shall see.

You didn't experience any breathing problems or nose/eyes/lung problems? LI batteries vent HF gas (hydrogen fluoride) when they explode. Nasty stuff.

I was a good 15' from it. Digital zoom.

CM have you considered an 18650 battery box? My wife and I use them for out iPhones (and anything else that can charge from a USB port). The best part is the batteries come out so you can have replacements ready to go. They can also operate on two different capacity cells, only a single cell or even one full and one part depleted cell and tho I've never used it (I'm anal about cheap chargers) it does have the ability to charge the cells if you plug it into a USB port.

I don't want to carry anything extra. I walk everywhere and the weather is getting warmer. This is the best solution for me.

Zerolemon has a good reputation. I've used my old phone, a Droid Razr Maxx with 3300mAh battery for 24+ hours with "heavy" usage before, so 3 days sounds reasonable to me. If you're on it constantly though (ie: no sleep), expect half that. The screen is the biggest killer - if you really need to stretch your battery, dim your screen way down.

Spectacular though it might have been, I would have kept the spare battery, although it shouldn't cost much to buy a new one (off Amazon or eBay). Never hurts to have a spare lying around or in your backpack.

If I decide to get a spare, it will be another of the same high capacity.

The fireball was totally worth it :D

Planterz is right about the screen - Check out this app Screen Filter by Haxtor. I've had it on every android I've had. simple and better dimmer than stock. you set a brightness and the app icon works like a widget for turning it off and on. works awesome, saves me a ton of battery.

Thanks for posting this installed the app works great never would of thought of it.

My dad has had the same battery for his galaxy s3 for about a year now. He gets about 2 days out of it with no problems. He uses a tablet charger when he charges it since a regular phone charger takes longer. I guessing due to the difference in output from the chargers.

Found one of those slim cell phone batteries i my kitchen cupboard the other day may have been there for about a year. Thing was starting to expand quite alot. Had I not found it I'm sure It would have blown up in there and maybe burned my hose down!!
Not sure what to do with it so chucked it in a pot of water in the garden??
Just a word of warning don't leave these things lying around!!

The casing to the old battery just fell off the patio...
