Hi gents,
I thought I would post a few pictures of my new JK Anniversary knife, no. 11. It has black Micarta handles and a blade that's just shy of 5" - a perfect fit for my favourite sheath. I like to use a Spec-Ops Brand combat master (what a hideous tacticool name!) sheath for my main hiking knife, as it is rugged, has great retention and a customizable insert, and a space for my Leatherman Wave.
So, when my Anniversary knife arrived, I decided to bump my trusty Delta 5 from its spot in the sheath. I removed the insert, dropped it in boiling water, and formed it around my new knife.
Here's an in-hand shot.
And here's my Anniversary knife with its freebie tin knife companion.
I just returned from a weekend in the woods, so I haven't had the opportunity to take my Anniversary knife for spin yet, but it feels like it will be a great all-around hiking knife. It came shaving-sharp, with excellent fit and finish and a beautiful symmetrical flat grind. I'm really impressed. The handle scales are nice and bulky, which will come in handy during winter snowshoeing excursions. I'm going to add a paracord lanyard with a wrist loop for chopping.
Anyway, I couldn't be happier. While I would have loved to get an Anniversary model with beautiful maple handles (or some other natural material), I intend to use the heck out of this. It will be the anchor of my new 'trio' setup, and should see all kinds of action this summer (I'll post pics!).
Nice job, John
All the best,
- Mike
