Hi folks -
A few months back Stomper had the idea to make a sturdy survival knife with a sheath that was designed to also hold a Vic Farmer. This would be his Survival Kit. I really like Stomper's knives, and also Victorinox knives so it seemed natural for me to order a kit from Stomper.
I received my beautiful new JK Survival knife yesterday and this evening took some pictures to post up here for you all to see -
Here is the knife - it is 9" overall, 4 1/2" long blade, 1 1/2" tall, and 3/16" thick with beautifully contoured maple burl handle scales, a full-ground clip-point blade in 01 steel, three hollow brass rivets and I asked Stomper to leave a little steel on the end to act as a prying tool if need be.
here is the end with the prying tool -
The handles are so nicely contoured that the knife feels like an extension of your arm/hand, and the finger choil is simply perfect -
Here it is in comparison to my JK Kephart - also in maple burl -
As I have come to expect from Stomper, the leather work is also excellent -
I'll have this baby out very soon and post some in use pictures.
I am really happy I ordered this kit when Stomper mentioned it - I think it will be a great all-around camp/survival combo and extremely useful and durable.
Thanks Stomper! Next up will be my upcoming JK Gamblers Bowie in, you guessed it, maple burl!
(edit to add link to Stomper's thread for orders or info )
