Hi guys,

I just wanted to share my excitement about the knife Ken Erickson created for me. I wanted him to make a Jack knife that was modeled after the frame of a Case Classic moose I own. I sent him the Case Moose and he came up with this. It is exactly how I pictured it to be. I couldn't be happier. I would like to get your opinions on what pattern you would classify this under. It looks like a sleeveboard jack to me, but not sure if sleeveboards have to have round bolsters or not. Here are the specs Ken emailed me when he finished the knife.

Just a tad over 4 inches, the case was tad smaller than 4 1/4
CPM154 CM flat ground, nice and thin. It sharpened up real nice.
Long nail pull
My dyed and jigged bone scales, dark brown to medium brown
410 integral frames and bolsters(I believe this to be the strongest , versus soldered bolsters)
Bomb shield , pinned
satin finish, blade, bolsters, with high polish highlights on ends of bolsters
"cleaned and finished inside.
2 1/2 oz
.430 at the widest point

I would appreciate your opinions.

Thanks,

Sketch

Oh man, that is SO sweet! I'm a sucker for hand-jigged brown bone, that's nice!

Very nice and welcome to BF. I also really like the jigging Ken did and the whole knife rocks.

Outstanding knife. You get a real idea of Ken's jigging work in that third picture.

That's as pretty of a knife that I have ever seen. Ken's Jigging is simply outstanding for this day and time, sure has the old time look... Congratulations Ken.

That is very nice. Ken should give lessons to Case and Queen on how to jig bone properly. I'm not a big fan of that pattern, but Ken did a great job with it. It looks like a crown jack to me, minus the crown. Very old school.

Congrats and welcome, Sketch.

I had the pleasure of seeing previews of that knife and getting the "story" as Ken was in the process of building it.

An outstanding knife to be sure!

The swedge and long-nail pull are just right for that blade. It's not humanly possible, but Ken does get better and better with each new knife. Congrats!

Well, I happen to know that Ken took a road trip down to Mississippi and set up at the crossroads of Highways 61 and 49 whereupon he made a deal with a certain personage in exchange for superlative knifemaking skills.

Guess he was tired of those long cold Wisconsin winters! :p:cool:

In that case, maybe his blues-guitar playing and fiddling improved as part of the bargain. :D

Nice folder Sketch. Congratulations on acquiring an Erickson. I love the one I have.

Welcome to this fine forum, which has in itself been an important crossroads for many a pilgrim. :)

That's a great looking knife. Congratulations!
