Ok so as you all know a couple days ago I had the sudden urge to "fix" one of my knives, long story short it became the Baridashi, and after these few days of using it I've pretty much become addicted to the short flat Japanese woodworkers knife and decided to make an authentic one
I took a gander and discovered I had some spring steel lying around and proceeded to "cut" the basic shape I wanted with.....my dremel....now anyone who knows a little about knifemaking knows that spring steel is some of the hardest stuff to cut, especially....with a dremel
It took me 5 hours to finally get through that little piece of steel but when I did the rest was a piece of cake, it took about 2 and a half hours to sharpen it by hand into the obtuse carving knife shape I wanted and another 20 minutes to make the sheath, here's the finished product
(sheath pics coming soon)
Take note, this knife will not shread paper, shave hair, or cut much of anything because I decided to stick that very obtuse grind on it, it is a woodworking knife, and it does an amazing job of carving up said wood
