A couple of months ago I saw one of these for sale here at "Knifemaker's For Sale" forum and decided I had to have one, a Fighter/Camp knife:

David Wesner of KCKW made it up and it was delivered last Friday morning.

Steel: 1/4" 5160 @ 59/60 HRC
Hardware: 655 silicon bronze guard, pin & lanyard tube
Handle: WSSI stabilized birdseye maple
Sheath: 8-9 oz. veg tanned leather; hand sewn
OAL: 13-1/2"
Blade Length: 8-1/4"

I am more than pleased with the knife, it is fantastic and quite stunning.
The handle is birdseye maple and polished so smooth it feels like a piece of stone.
David sharpened it to a scary-sharp razor edge, it quite easily deforested large areas of my forearm.
Fit, finish, and balance are perfect.

This one is a keeper, I'll be taking it out for some field testing very soon.

Cheers,

Carl

That's really nice. I'm especially impressed by the clean solder joint. Looks like you scored a good one.

Gorgeous knife Carl!
And, I'm glad it's made from good ol' 5160 'carbon' steel!
(Too many small and large knives these days are being made with the 'latest and greatest' stain resistant 'nouveau' steels - glad this one is 5160.)

Very nice. Lots of character in the handle and the whole piece has great looking fit & finish.

That is a really nice piece. Proof that a hard using knife can be pretty as well.

mattwheaton,

Visually the guard does seem small in relation to the overall size of the knife.
But from a practical and in-the-hand standpoint the guard size is just right. Certainly a personal preference on my part of course, as I prefer the guard to be sized as it is rather than have the "prongs" stick out way too far just for the sake of the visual.

All in all, what a knife !! Superb craftsmanship.

Cheers,

Carl

Hi Thom,

only a couple of days of practice with it so far. But I do know that SK-5 stays sharp "forever" !! No matter how long I leave the RB storage the razor edge just won't go away.

cut some limes & grapefruits with the new Kelsey Creek: no staining of the blade, which is great news. More practice needed.

Cheers,

Carl
