Hi

This one was heading for my box of knowledge, otherwise known as my scrap pile but a fellow forumite suggested that I finish it, so here it is.

3" carbon, pattern welded blade
ironwood with windowed blade steel ironwood overlay
.63 anodized, vine and thorn fileworked liners
blade steel rope? fileworked backspacer
7" over all length

Any and All comments Welcome. Thanks for looking, Dave

I am really glad you decided to finish it. That is one of the coolest knives I have seen lately.

Next time you are thinking of sending a knife like that to the scrap pile, please let me know.

That's downright gorgeous!

Well, how can anyone disagree with the beauty of this one. Very clean and 'natural'. I love the window.

So Dave, what was the reason it was inelligible? Whatever it was appears to be fixed. Fill us in.

Thanks again. Congrats on the fine work. :)

Michael, Kile, Kurt, Kieth Thanks for the great comments.

So Dave, what was the reason it was inelligible?

Coop, My son and his family are coming for a visit and I wanted to make him a special knife. On paper this knife has better lines but I didn't have the correct tools to actually make it per my design, another thing that I had trouble with was the right window treatment, I tried wood, m.o.p., ivory and nothing looked right with this wood so out of some minor frustration ;) I threw, uh, gently placed the overlay on my bench and it landed on a small cutoff piece of blade steel. I have ordered the correct bits and I hope to have enough time before their visit to make another one. Thanks for your kind words, Dave

WOW!!!!
This was headed for the scrap pile? Darn glad you saved her, that is a gorgeous knife! I like the blade profile and the layered wood. The steel inlay is neat too, never seen that before.
Keep 'em coming Dave, you're doing great.

Sometimes you need a second opinion. This knife was worth finishing! Very original, I like the two woodgrains and the window into the liner.

Great save -- maybe a creative spark was kindled in attempting to "fix" what you started originally. No matter, however it came to be, the result is unique and beautiful. Great job

Mike

Thanks for the encouraging comments, it does help sometimes to get a second opinion.

Matt, Thanks for helping me decide to finish this knife

This picture may show the blade grind a little better

Outstanding.....i really like the balance of wood and metal.
Just the right colour, and the filework is great.

Very unique.... great job!

What do they say?
"One man's garbage is another man's gem"...

You wanna get rid of any more garbage.. er, gems  like that... let us know! I'm sure there are "garbage" collectors out here like me that would be honored to help you with the recycling process!!! LOL!!!
:D

Man... that is a piece that would look really nice slipping out of my pockets to open boxes in the office!!

What's that saying "One man's garbage is another man's treasure?" Sheesh.

Sorry, Another garbage collector already took this trash home :p

Redstripe, Paul, Thanks

SnapperHead, Welcome to the forums. I'm honored that you chose my knife for your first post. Thank you, Dave

Dave, I mentioned on another forums that I thought it looked a little busy, but theres still no getting away from this knife being an absolute class act ! I'm glad you finished it. Talent combined with tenacity takes you a LONG way !!! Superb work. Jason.
