Great damascus pattern! Great, crisp grinding, and a shapely wood handle! Knives like that one are what custom is all about.

I was wondering, how long and how wide are the blade? It'll give some sense of the proportions. Bowies are deceptive like that.

OK, just found a tape measure.....

blade length = 7-5/8" from tip to front face of guard.
blade height = 1-3/4" max.
blade thickness = just under 1/4" (I don't have my calipers and
guesstimate 7/32").
handle length = 4-5/8" from back of guard to end of pommel.
top edge is not sharpened.

Cheers,

Carl

p.s. here's the "original" which inspired me to contact Dan Koster and discuss making a similar knife for me. I was very fortunate that Clint Chisan had another Damascus blank available with a very similar pattern.

So it wasn't just my imagination, it's a wide bowie, with a stout blade.

Of the two knives, I like guard and handle on yours better.
