Recently, I sat down at my kitchen table and had a long talk with myself, and I decided that I didn't need to buy any more knives. Fifteen minutes later, after that silliness had passed, I ordered this Bark River Mini Aurora in 3V with black canvas micarta handles. The Aurora Series is one of Bark River's bushcraft lines, and I figured I shouldn't oughta go to my great reward in the sky without having owned at least one bushcraft knife. Don't get me wrong. I'm probably never gonna be crafting any bushes. Heck, I'm probably never gonna leave my apartment again. But, still. A man ought to have a bushcraft knife, right? I thought so.

In the checkout on the way out, I thought I needed an extra sheath, so I picked up this little cutie with a snap on it. I dislike pouch sheaths (you listening, Bark River?).

Oops, how did those bottles of tequila get in there?

P.S. This Bark River is sharp. I mean, really sharp. I'm going to spend the weekend staring at the grind through a tiny little microscope that I just bought on Amazon because the guys over in the Maintenance Forum bullied me into buying sharpening stuff. I didn't want to do it, but those guys are tough. Sharp, too.

Hey man, is it allowed to ask what condition you are having there? Sounds serious..

And Bark Rivers are great, I have two. The Bushcrafter with natural micarta and the mini Buscrafter with antique ivory paper micarta:

Just making a little joke. I'm feeling a some pandemic fatigue. Not looking forward to fall and winter.

Your Bushcrafters looks great. I like Micarta. What blade steel have you got on your knives?

Cheers. :)

Slight correction: The smaller one is the Ultra Light Bushcrafter. There is a Mini Bushcrafter, but that is really, really, really small. You'd think "ultra" beats "mini", but nooo....

Thanks man, I knew I f***ed something up when I was typing that and too lazy for a google check.. 🤣

Good to know, I thought you were terminally ill or something.. 🙈🤣

Both mine are 3V, and the Bushcrafter especially is tested really really hard. That 3V is some tough stuff and also holds an edge very well in my experience.

Nice choice! Tell me more about that Tequila...

We are living in a golden age of tequila making. Tequila Ocho is a very well-made brand. They use no additives and their thing is terroir. They produce in batches, each batch using agaves from a particular area.* You will notice the blue part of each label is the name of a different growing area. And they "vintage" the harvests, like French wine production. Taste is full of cooked agave, mineral, citrus, black pepper, a little mint. Nice fatty mouth feel. I could go on at length. Life has few pleasures. Well-made knives, good tequila, Italian women . . . .

*Tequila Ocho tequilas are Single Estate products, like it says on the label. I don't know why I had trouble saying that.

P.S. The Mini Aurora and the sheaths I got from DLT. ;)

And all three are hard to get right now - not that I need all three ;). Was buying some vintage Champagne last Sat for my wife's birthday, and was wondering why there is a much smaller selection then there used to be. The guy told me that ships are stranded in harbors and cannot unload, and BTW, good Tequila is impossible to find for them now, because they have trouble making bottles in Mexico (oxygen seems hard to get, which you need for the glass making).

Anyways, nice knife, and I'm with you on sheaths. Will go well with your Police. Cheers,

Roland.

Great score (the tequila too🍹). Bark River blades are excellent, if my Professional Series Woodland in A2 is any example. I have a number of great knives from Mike Stewart, my Marbles Campcraft and Fieldcraft in 52100, all top quality.

It feels like the right time to buy Bark River. If you like what they do, they're never going to be doing it any better. If I buy another, it might be one of their big knives. I just have to hypnotize myself into believing that I really, really need another knife.

Come to California. Yesterday, I bought six bottles of the finest tequilas in the world. And that was at a chain store with very reasonable pricing. (Not BEVMO. Those people haven't learned indoor manners yet.) The G4 they were giving away.

My Police is my first Spyderco. Wow! What a pleasure! Now, I need an Endura? A Delica? A Dagonfly 2? Where to next?

Just for the record, I'm all for the pouch sheaths... (hope you're still listening, BRKT - some of us dislike retention straps)

(*Edited to fix auto correction. I dislike retention straps...and, without the straps, there wouldn't be any darn snaps either)
