When i placed the order for this i didn't give to many specifications on what i wanted other than a couple. I'm not a knife designer and i trust Matt and all his years in this business more than my judgment.

I basically told him i was wanting a fighting bowie in his damascus steel with an 11" blade. Pretty simple request but sometimes things just don't have that "walk and talk" you were hoping for. That is the one major drawback of ordering a custom as opposed to buying a custom from a table where you can handle it first. Needless to say i'm more than happy with this one. Matt understood just what i was wanting and delivered.

Spec wise it is 16 1/4" OAL with 11" blade of random pattern damascus. Mics out at .333 at the guard and runs a distal taper towards the point for that lively feel i wanted. The clip is rather agressive looking in my opinion and runs half the blade length and yes its sharp. Has a black walnut handle and full hidden tang construction. Matt's handle design is a winner in my book. Fit and finish is spot on and i haven't been able to find a flaw yet. For something made using a hammer you would think it was made by a machine by examing it.

Just want to take the time to thank Matt too. Exceeds all my expectations and yes i do plan on using it. It just begs for it!
For better pics than mine go to Matt's gallery. Mine can't compete.

Congrats on a great knife .

One of the finest from Matt that I have seen

Matt makes a sharp bad ass blade

Mine might be the sharpest big knife I own

Looks great  One from couples' of Matt's damascus knives  I like Matt's work very much and hoping to get one soon :o

just the regular stuff;) no in all seriousness i will take and use it for anything from a camp knife to a kitchen knife. you really get to know a knife when you use it for just about anything. that is how i got to know my hells belle. seems strange cutting up an apple with a huge blade like this but it works lol.

thanks for all the compliments

Good lookin knife!!!

I hope that's not one of the pieces of walnut I sent Matt. If so, I should have kept it.

Crossada, im so glad you like it, and thanks again for your patience during the process!
Don, that piece of Walnut actually came from Virginia, that said, some that you sent me is as nice in very way (as you know).

Here is a pic of the Bowie sitting atop its sheath-

One of the nicest Lamey's I've had the pleasure of viewing.
Great work, Matt.
Congrats, crossada !

And what would you have done with it Don?
Hide it down in his secret underground lair under about 6 tons of ivory? That slab he built for that 100 lb LG looks WAY too big to just be a hammer base. :p

Matt that is truly something special

Tthe oversized stud on the sheath is a great addition and this knife has just a fantastic set of lines

Truly one of the finest looking blade I have seen from anyone

Wish it where mine Congrats again

that stud is nice. i carried it a couple of days ago and the sheath works perfectly.

thanks for adding a good pic to the thread Matt, night and day difference

I love all of Matt's work but that might be my favorite to date.....and that's saying a lot!
