Hello People..

Here is my new Sebenza 21 with mammoth ivory.
Bought it from Bladegallery.com (wich i can't recommend sadly) but the blade from Chris Reeve is super!
Here are some pics:

Congrats on the acquisition! The dog seems to approve. :)

Hmmm . . . bladegallery.com is listed as an authorized dealer for CRK. I hope you'll share your bladegallery.com experience in the appropriate forum.

Beautiful. I'm with my buddy Fooj, I'd be curious about your BG experience. I've deal with them in the past without too much problem. They had several of examples of a Mnandi I was interested in and they emailed pictures of all three to allow me to pick the one I wanted.

Thanks guys.. the point with the dealer was that he overprized his CRK knives. When i asked him about it he said i was mistaking and he was sure that the fixed price of a sebenza mammoth is 750.-. When i contacted CRK about it (they wrote me all prices are fixed and a mammoth is 700,- bladegallery claimed the +amount was because of the photo costs they had to make (?!?). After that i agreed with them that the price would be the 750 on his site but including shipping. When i made the order i choose shipping worth about $50 for a fast delivery and so i was ok with it. No discount but no overpricing either this way..
But when it was shipped he didn't ship it for $50 the way i choose but the cheapest he could find. When i phoned them about this he said he was sure that he mentioned it in our call earlier and i was probably mistaking again.
I do not care about the small amount between the 2 choices of shipping.. but i do care that they aren't strait about it at bladegallery.com
Their story changed 3 times. From "you are mistaking, the CRK price is 750" to: "that is because of photo costs" to "i am sure i mentioned it" to etc.. just not strait.

Anyway.. i do like the sebenza.. it has a cream colored mammoth wich you don't see around.

Best regards Michiel

Perhaps send an email to Chris Reeve about your experience. They like to keep prices uniform and I am sure that they would like to know if one of their authorized dealers was treating customers that way.

With mammoth I have seen a wide discrepancy in pricing, nobody goes below a certain level but I have seen MANY vendors high, and not consistent. All of the premium inlays are like this to a degree, I have paid 425-450 for Mnandi with box elder, sometimes with free shipping sometimes not, and I have seen a plain ivory damascus Mnandi for 850 which is often 700 or so. I think the issue is that mammoth is not easy to come by, was recently discontinued and some shops ask what they want for it, CRK can't legally discourage that.

I agree (with both of you ;) )
I understand that the rarity of the knife makes the price higher.. it even makes sence. But just be strait about it and don't tell customers stories.
Already send an email about how this purchase went but got no respons.
I'll just let it rest and buy elsewhere next time..

And now back to the real important things in life.. isn't it looking superb?

I have to agree that this is BS, photo costs? Really? It's doesn't cost me $50 to take a photo and post it on the internet. I know we like what we like and sometimes pay a bit more to get it, but in this case I would have said "Go screw yourself".
The fact that they said you were "mistaken" several times would have beeen my flag too!

Glad you like the knife and are happy!

I totally agree with Franz, what you have there is One Beautiful Collectors Piece and I know the wait for mammoth is very very long if you can still order it. But it sucks when you get story after story from a dealer, it shows no love on the dealers part.

Congrats on the mammoth bro, very nice and I'm also liking your doggy a lot.

That is just beautiful. I really like the all black head with the mostly white body with black mixed in. Never seen one quite like that....................

Oh the knife is nice too.

This ^^^.

There's a Large Sebenza with Mammoth Ivory inlays being sold by an authorized CRK dealer in my neighborhood. It's marked at $800.00 and it's got some of the most beautiful caramel-colored inlays I've ever seen. Unfortunately, I'm not in the market for an $800.00 Sebenza at the moment. But if somebody's looking for one in the Southern California area, shoot me a PM or e-mail and I'll let you know where to find it.
