Hollow-handled knife, bah! Hollow-handled trowel, now we're talking!

Har har! I spotted this recently. I figured $ .97 would be a small investment in a little survival humor.

nice...there are plenty of "survival" uses for a trowel in the woods...you always have good ideas hikeeba (even when it is survival humor, I especially like how you "reprofiled" the "edge")

Funny but not really... that's actually a pretty handy lightweight kit to have! Heck of a lot easier to carry than my old-fashioned steel E-tool, that's for sure.

It's a good thing to "take the piss out" of how hardcore we sometimes get about gear ;)

Yes, that was the initial idea. But the Fiskars trowels (I bought 2) will find homes in one kit or another. I do like them better than the flatter plastic trowel I have as they are sturdier and the hollow handle is a nifty feature. I found them in a freshly stocked garden department at a Walmart. :)

I think they are already illegal in California. It is a x-ray translucent non-metallic asault trowel without an imbedded serial number. The favored tool of the Al Quieda Garden Club.

Hey why not put T.P. From MREs in the handle and have a comode kit.:p

I have a poorly executed one from campmore that holds a small roll of TP but its not real sturdy.

That's great! I had one years ago that I bought at Sears for backpacking, my wife confiscated it for the garden and I haven't seen it since (she loses them out there). Haven't been able to find another until now. Beats the hell out of lugging a metal trenching tool. Thanks :)

Handy backpacking tool, for sure. (Don't carry it IWB tho'.) We normally pack ours in a sturdy zip-lok type bag for sanitation; in camp it hangs from a convenient branch for ready access.

I like the way you think. Great idea. I have a nifty hollow handled "survival" trowel that I got as a gift but it definately weighs more than I need. I'm onna keep my eyes out for one of those. Personally i'm a big fan if Fiskars stuff.
