My new Micarta Insingo

About four months ago, I placed an order for a Large 21 Micarta with an Insingo blade and dual Silver Thumbstuds. The UPS truck dropped off a package late this week with my knife, it came with the new S35VN steel. It is incredibly smooth (my wife even commented on that) and has the great fit and finish that CRK is known for. I took it part, removed the lanyard, and put it back together and as usual, it was rock solid when put back together. It's my first Micarta and I really am looking forward to putting it through its paces. Anyway, I wanted to share some pictures of my new knife.

But first a quick teaser, the box with my plain Large 21 (used for opening)

This is my first Sebenza with the "Idaho Made" stamp and I really have to say, it's not noticeable at all. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another one with IM on it.

That is very nice! I love the weave pattern on that micarta. I wish the micarta on my large 21 looked like that. Can anyone explain the difference in micarta patterns?

Congratulations!

I've really come to LOVE the Insingo blade shape. Aside from the function, utility and overall ease of maintenance, I like how the curve of grind line and the blade edge seems to match up with the subtle curves of the handle lines. It just seems to look so much more organic and I think it looks like the blade that belongs on the 21 handle. Now, when I look at the normal blade shape, it seems to look out of place. Call me crazy. I'm a serious Insingo fanboy.

Edit: I also like how the Insingo thumb studs ride just a little bit higher than the original blade in the closed position, allowing the thumb more room for a slight increase in leverage and ease of opening. It is a slight but noticeable difference.

Thanks, everyone. Hope your respective knives get here soon, it's really nice.

I like the blade shape too. I haven't had a chance to use it that much but it made short work of the box it came in and a few other cardboard boxes.

Micarta and Insingo blade is the perfect combination in my opinion. Nice example.

I've been using the Insingo more and more throughout the day and I've got to say, the blade shape is great. It is excellent for opening packages as well as slicing cardboard.

Noooooooooooooooo!! say it aint so...

EDIT: I realize now that you probably meant the shipping box, not the CRK box... I had a moment of panic ;)

Just the UPS shipping box, the CRK box is safely residing with my other knife boxes. I keep them all on the off chance I sell them (not likely on this knife though).

Thanks again for all the kind words.

That is about the perfect combination for an all around user. Large 21 Frame, Insingo Blade, Micarta Inlays, Double Studs, Idaho Made Engraving, Whats Not To Like....!!! I am sure I will have one someday !!!
