Hi,

Today, I've found this new LCC 03/2001 nr. 4291 in a knife-shop. As I was always interested in having one, I decided to buy it immediately.
It has green micarta handles, green aluminium spacers and a black coating. Does anybody have some additional information about this model? It is quite difficult to find something about on the internet.

It's a great near-custom quality knife that disappeared long ago. Great find! I own and carry a MT LCC D/A with the hidden release switchblade mechanism. Finding one of those is near impossible these days. The LCC is IMHO one of the best production knives designed, ever. Yours would have been better with Titanium bolsters, and carbon fiber, but that's just my preference.;)

Microtech still exists, as a company, but mainly caters to the military style stuff. The LCC is a Greg Lightfoot design, and was produced for a few years in the Vero Beach facility of MT. There are several versions, which essentially is just a difference in bolster size, and material. The pocket clip was also changed, shortly after your version, to a solid clip, as the cut-out ones tended to bend too easily. They were originally made with Titanium bolsters, and at the beginning of 2001 were changed to Aluminum. I think some later ones were issued with Titanium again, but I'm not sure. You have a Generation 4, from what I can tell. 1-3 had Titanium. Early ones had Carbon fiber scales, where later the option of micarta was added. Gen 1 had a shorter bolster, 2 had a longer bolster to facilitate firing on the D/A models, and 3 had a screw placement change that made the looks a little more appealing. 3 and 4 look the same, with the difference being the bolster material. I can try to post a pic of the different generations later.

I agree with you!:) But as new LCCs are quite difficult to find, I'm already happy with this one!

Thank you for all the information!

Hey that's a real nice one! I hope to try out a Microtech some time. They sure are cool looking!

I used to have an LCC D/A, another one I let go of and regretted. Enjoy yours, I always thought the manuals looked better because they had to modify the bolster/scale cut on the autos due to production problems.

I had a Gen.1 titanium carbon fiber version.
Like was said above, I sold it and now regret it.
Just one of many things I have sold and regret.
I am quite sure I will continue doing so in the future.:D

I loves my Gen 2 LCC D/A. I wish I would have gotten another one.

Thats a nice one....great find!

Hi Daniel,

I have checked out: my LCC has the shorter bolsters. It must be a gen.1 then :). Or have there been later generations with the shorter bolsters too?

Pretty sure all Gen 1's were beat-blast titanium bolsters with matte carbon fiber scales. Gen 2's had the revised bolsters to fix a reliability problem with the gen 1's, after that I didn't really keep track, aside from the switch to micarta and Hard Anodized aluminum. Edit: I should add that this only applies to the D/A automatic LCC's. The manual ones had the original bolster setup from day one and didn't change in that respect.
