So,

Got a Moran and Military today.

The Moran, what can I say, too cool for words, but I will try.

Handle works so many different ways, comfortable too, despite it's odd look. Bill Moran ia a genius, and Sal Glesser is a visionary to lure him to the collaboration, I am probably going to get several of these. The sheath is nice, ever so nice, but I am probably going to get the EdgeWorks pocket sheath for it, not a big fan of leather for utility. WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW

The Military, you guys have been going off about this knife, and justifiably I might add.

Very solid, no play in the handle, and a strong lock. The flat grind is going to be very nice, I can feel it. The opening hole is too cool, very nicely sized, and great chamfering balance. Am going to want a black clip for it, but I really like the three screw clip, much better than the two screw. I am not the biggest fan of the choke up, but it works.

Anyway, thank you Spyderco.

Marion,
Welcome to the M&M club. I think both knives are excellent in both quality and design and it must have been a heck of a day when you get 2 knives like that in the mail.

One thing I have been doing with my Moran and the Edgeworks sheath is applying jewlers rouge to the blade. I noticed that when I stropped the Moran and then rubbed in the residual rouge that the marring from the kydex sheath not only decreased but some of the old marks went away.

Give this a try if you're worried about the kydex marking up that pretty mirror finish.

Enjoy your blades!

Regards,

Welcome to the "club", Marion. I've got a new plain edge Military coming to me on Monday, to supercede the serrated one, I'm anxious to test the plain version, think it'll be a better all around blade.
I carry my Moran in the slip sheath everyday, it's just so unobtrusive. Have not had the chance to really put the other style sheath to work yet, but will soon.
I know you'll enjoy both your new toys!!

new plain Viele and Moran here

First Spyderco purchases since the first time I saw a Spydie at the county fair and got a Worker (the only model at the time)

Great shaving set for camping. ><g>
Can't bear to think of scratching that mirror finish on the Moran, so I'll leave it in the leather for now.

Boy, I tell you, I am aching for a Military and a Moran. However, I just spent my allowance on my very first spyderco (finally! - thanks sesoku!), and am expecting it in the mail next week. From the many many choices, I decided to get the Police model. I think I wanted it because it is the first Spyderco I ever saw, handled, and wanted from many years ago. I thought it would be nice to start my spyderco collection with the Police. I can't wait!

pk,

I doubt you will be disappointed, the Police is very cool, I have owned two versions, and think it is a really nice knife. Next one I get will be the flat ground version.

Eye,

For my money, the Moran and Military are the finest Spydies out there. I've been raving about the Moran for almost a year and of course got EdgeWorks to make sheaths for it with my "father and son" order featured on their web site.

Sal made me a present of the Military and it has been everything and more than the "Military Men" aka Dexter, Gene and company, have said it was. It is truely a workhorse.

Great stuff!!!!
