I've been thinking of a Railsplitter for some time and came across this one. I was instantly captivated and I had to leave with it. Love the stag and the D2 steel. I thought it was a little stink eye from the wife who was waiting in the truck. Here's the real kicker. They also had a sweet Cattle king knife in knarely stag with D2
I contemplated on getting but thought I'd better not now. I told her about it and as we were driving away she said why didn't you get that too? Oohhh.

Guess where I'm going tomorrow. :)
Hopefully he'll be open.

Wow- Jon...Those Railsplitters are beasts of knives arent they! - Love everything about that knife - the slanted Bolsters ( pinched ) The Beautiful Stag - Fantastic.
Just as a matter of interest - how sharp did those D2's come out of the box?

Please show the Cattle King when and if you get it!

Sweet knife Jon! I've got one just like it.

The information that I have indicates there were 43 of those made. Are you sure those blades are D2? I was under the impression that mine are 1095.

Well I was told they were D2. This is day one with it and it came sharp enough. For now at least. I've had and have a couple with D2 and I prefer it. If it's 1095 that won't be the end of the world. I'll still get the cattle king.

Very nice! I have been eyeing Northwoods for a while now. How is the spring tension? How is the walk and talk? I am certain FF is perfect?

Walk and talk is perfect for me. Not a bear trap like a GEC or weak like many Cases'. Oooh fighting words.
This knife is really a beaut

Thanks Jon. I'll see if I can find out for sure. I've never used mine so I don't know if the blades would take on a patina like carbon steel or not.

I'm looking forward to seeing that cattle king. Sounds nice.

Thanks for the PM railsplitter.
Funny these knives as nice as they are don't drum up more interest.
Maybe they should be renamed the Barlowsplitter:)

Railsplitter sent me a pm with a good read on my knife which turns out they were made with 1095. I'm still happy with it and want to go back for the cattle king. Just curious what the steel would be on that one.?.?
Thanks Railsplitter.

Very nice knife! I wish I lived near a shop where I could pick out my new knives in person......

It's a great shop and he's a great person. We generally spend some time talking hunting. I've got a special fixed blade hunting knife planned for my son with a Impala horn I picked up in Africa and while I'm at it im gonna have one made for me for my 40th Bday at the end of the month.

That's a nice one hunterjrg!
I got one in Ebony for a great price off the auction site and I just love how it feels in hand. I believe the blades are 1095 although I haven't used mine enough to develop a patina on it.
Would love to see that Cattle King when you get it!
