Sometime back I got with Max and discussed having a dagger made that was patterned after a style I really like. Max likes a challenge, and when its something he has not done before, he will ask for a little time to work with it. The wait really pays off though, he keeps at it until its perfect. What you get is a knife you were looking for, with Max's own unique style that really sets the knife off. This new dagger really has alot of charecter. Attention to every little detail shows ALOT of thought and consideration. Max has really outdone himself this time....and can be extremely proud of his greatest work yet. I know I am a proud and happy new owner of this knife. Here is a pic for your enjoyment.

Wow, that is one beautiful knife! Looks like the blade is in the 7" range? Nice sheath too, you lucky guy. Congrats on a very nice knife.

Nice one Rich, that Max is something else. Can you imagine what he's going to be doing after he goes to ABS?

Hey Rich, there's your pic for the next photo contest.

Rich, you take a good pic dude! That looks way better than my poor attempt. It's amazing what a little creativity will do for a pic.

I'll fill in the blanks for Rich. The blade is cable damascus by Russ Scheringer from Mary Esther, Florida. I swapped him out of a billet with more cable. It's road kill cable I picked up off the highway believe it or not. Russ has been very generous with his hard work. It's the second billet he's pounded out for me. I'm sure he's going to start charging higher rates as good as he's getting at forging it up. I still have enough damascus from that billet to forge out another blade too! I don't grind the billet, I forge it to shape to conserve that fine steel and would rather forge than grind anyway.

The blade length is 7" and the overall lehgth is 11 7/8". The guard is some stainless I got from Ray Kirk and the pommel is a cross section from an old chicken processing plant cutting line shaft. You know, where they cut the chicken up for packaging. It's some kind of stainless, I don't know for sure what.

The handle slabs are an unknown wood I found on a shelf above my step-dad's (Bob Ogg) workbench. It's either zebra wood or some real nice tiger maple. Or something else altogether. I picked it because it was purty and tough as nails!

Rich didn't give me any guidelines, he just said "make me a dagger kind of like this one" and sent me a site address with a Gerber model 9 (Is that right Rich?). So, I had fun with this one and just made it like I was making it for myself. And I'm a picky bastid when it comes to knives

Wow. I usually don't care much for daggers, but I definitely like that one. Kudos, Max, for the great knife, and Richard, for getting him to make it.

That's a beauty. I can't decide whether I like the blade or the handle more.

Brian, this is a little neck knife that Max forged from a railroad spike. It was started on before I arrived, but I did get to see most of the process when I arrived.
