I went a little crazy with the slipjoints this past month. All three are by Hiroaki Ohta and the handles are Polished fossil mammoth ivory handle scales. The blades are ATS34. I really love these knives, makes me feel like the could have come from my Grandfather.

Those are exquisite pieces!! Congrats!! I love them all, but the middle one IS my favorite.

A very nice looking set! I like the varying colors in the mammoth ivory. It makes each one quite unique!

I really like Ohta's knives. His f&f is right up there I think. That's a real nice pattern too. Enjoy!

I edc an Ohta with a wharncliffe blade and popcorn stag - awsome. Can you tell us where you scored the mamouth ivory -enjoy.

A nice custom slipjoint such as one of these is high on my to-do list. Congrats on your fine new knives.

I'd like to get a better look at the open knives. The bottom photo is taken from an angle that distorts the look of the knives. From what I can tell though, they look darn good.

The knives came from Knifeart, they are great to deal with. Keith I will take a better picture of the open knives tomorrow. Thanks for the kind words I really love these knives.

That you love these knives is obvious, but why did you buy three of the same style?

Ohta does a rockin' cool two blade slim trapper as well.

hmmm...I could be going WAY out on a limb, but perhaps he LIKES THE PATTERN!

:D

(I sure do...nice picks)

Correct, the pattern just speaks to me. A better picture of the blade. Of all the things I dont do well, photography is right at the top.

Ohta does some very nice work and his two bladed knives are very nice, I just don't like two bladed knives or wharnies. So I just stuck with what I like, and the mammoth is different enough that I just wanted them all.

Ok, cool!

The answer COULD have been 1 to use, 1 to trade and 1 to keep pristine, but it wasn't(that probably would have been my answer in a different post) but it wasn't.

I was really curious, thanks!

I often buy doubles of something (not just knives), but I can't recall buying a triple! :D Nice score - from one of my favorite makers.
