I have owned my black Battle Rat for some years now, but when I put the BR to use, I felt that there was room left for improvement.

So finally I send it to a talented knifemaker, who really knows how to sharpen things up. Here are the results:

Now there's this smooth transition through the higher convex grind and this improved the chopping ability a lot without sacrificing much strength. Now I love my BR even more and they are hard to come by over here in Europe. So enjoy the photos and look after your 'precious'!

Nice one!

Mine had been thinned by HornDog and is a great chopper. The grind is thin and I've beaten the heck out of it with zero edge damage (except when i hit concrete 1x..minor/tiny rolled edge).

Looks great. I'd like a swamp rat or busse chopper with a convex edge like that. How much does it usually cost (in the US) to have an edge on a ~9 inch blade convexed? I could do it myself but not sure if I have the skill.

That is a sweet battle rat! Maybe I need to convex mine....

Kirk I just wrote on your vistor wall.

I love the look of that wide edge!

I've been contemplating sending a couple of my Rats to Richard J for some paper wheel lovin', getting closer now. :)

Thanks for comments, I can only recommend this edge modification cause it shows what the BR is capable of with the right edge geometry.
