I usually carry a 1946-56 Kamp King or a 1936-56 Imperial EO jack as my EDC. However, I just picked up a 1945-55 Imperial Hammer brand "cracked ice" jack that has a serious chance of kicking them out of my pocket for a while. I only paid $7, and I originally was a little bit regretful a first, but once I sharpened it on my oil bench stone, I'm hooked. I usually don't go for clip blades either. I don't know what it is about this thing, but I love it! I guess I'm a jack guy, rather than a pen guy.

It mic's out at 0.0705" at the tang, which makes it a heck of a slicer. Really a wonderful little knife.

Pictures!

Oh man, that's a sweetie of a pocket knife!

It has a style and grace of the 1950's about it, and I remember so many of them being THE go-to knife of the working men of the era. The cracked ice was a very popular scale. It seems to me, the 1950's was the about the last of the two blade jacks as the ubiquitous pocket knife of the masses. The 1960's saw the explosion of the Buck 110 and all the semi look alike knock offs, and the SAK increase in popularity. But I'll always love the old time jacks.

Thats a very nice specimen of the breed.

Carl.

Very Nice! Congrats!

I had a cracked ice pen before, but gifted it to another guy because it just never clicked with me.

I guess I'm just a jack guy.

This knife is quite heavy for a small knife, and feels nice and solid in hand. It doesn't feel cheap like the pen did.

I'm going to EDC this thing for a week or two and really try it out. In going to hone it all the way up to 4000 on my water stones too. I can't wait to see how it does after that!

That's kind of what I picture if I think 'pocket knife'. Both gramps always had one. I have a few. Very nice.

very nice little inconspicuous blade! I bet it just disappears in your pocket until you remember you need it.
