Guys!

This weekend I got an older Emerson from local gun show.

I have a few questions for Emerson experts:

1. It this a large Commander model?
2. Looks like knife was made in 2000, why there is no "wave" hook on the blade?
3. On the blade there is only Emerson logo and no other "modern" stamps like steel, patents, etc... In what year they stared adding this to the blade stamp?
4. What do yo think - is this a 154CM steel? G10 handle?

Looks and feels like a very well made knife! Previous owner was carring this knife for sure but never used it for cutting! no single scratch on the blade and no marks on the edge!

I feel lucky! :)

Thank you all in advance!

Just sent a request to Emerson! I got reply almost immediately! Great Customer service!

So I provided pictures and they will send me full report on thin knife soon! For sure I will share it with community :)

That looks like a regular production Commander that has had its Wave ground off. It is not a ES1-C, or a custom knife. It most likely does have 154-CM steel, based on the year of manufacture. Its a great knife to own, but I don't believe it has any special value.

As jbravo mentioned, it does look like the wave was ground off since the older waveless models didn't have a ramp that angled above the thumbdisc like the new ones. That said though, it also looks like the coating is undisturbed in that area otherwise the OP would have certainly pointed it out, so it may have come that way.

It looks like an NOS 2000 with the wave ground off. But, the logo doesn't look quite right to me and to my knowledge, 2000's had a domed pivot. This does not.

I got an answer form Emerson!

This is a 2000 Waveless Commander. Only a few knives were made this way.

Knife was not altered, so "wave" was not ground off... It was manufactured this way!

Very nice!! That's awesome! I guess the waveless one's didn't come with a domed pivot? Interesting info, thanks for posting!
