my new old timer 340T

just got this brand new in tin for $60 aussie dollars , made in ellenville new york . was this a good deal? is it carbon or stainless steel? also , should i use this or keep it in new condition and give it to my son as his first knife? (if i ever have kids)

it doesn`t have the + on the tang so i`m guessing its carbon steel

I believe you're right about the carbon steel.

What kind of handle material? Is it the sawcut delrin, or some organic material like bone or stag?

Since it came in a tin I'm guessing it was some kind of special issue. Is that correct?

sawcut delrin , doesn`t say anything about it being a special issue . it is a nice knife .
