My New One Hand Opening Slipjoint

I came up with this concept and design for the U.K. and European market. In the U.K. you can only carry a non-locking knife. I have been working on this design for about 3 months and have finally worked out all the kinks and rotational dimentions. This knife will eventually be my first mid-tech and will be available in both the U.S. and U.K. With that in mind I have made arrangements with a purveyor in the U.K. to carry this knife. I have also been able to place it with a purveyor here in the U.S. For now, I will be selling these as a custom until I'm able to do my first run of parts. As soon as I start the mid-tech line, I will be donating 5% of the sales to the Wounded Warriors Project.

Now, about the knife itself.. It's basically a one hand opening slipjoint. The blade rotates on ball bearings and has an easy opening start with a firm open position. The blade is rock solid with no play throughout it's total rotation. The blade steel is D2, and just under 3". The handle scales are G10, 410 SS liners, Titanium deep carry pocket clip. It also features an everflush backbar/spring and screw together construction.

Any questions, comments , critique are welcome and appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Reminds me of a custom Gerber EZ out- my first clip folder. I think it is a fine looking working knife- I wish more makers would try one handed slipjoints.

Thanks again for all the kind words. I all ready have another blade shape designed and I plan on coming out with a lockback version this year. Lambertiana, If you want to take a look at it, come on by.

Thanks

Michael

Congrats to Mike on a great job. I got to play with this knife as I do with a lot of Mike's knives and I must say I love it. It's a great design and concept. This knife is filled with features that I really like. I can't wait for the mid-tech run because I want one!

Great design and concept. I'd love to have one to play with. Mike's not just a Master Smith in title only and a knife such as this one shows why. I'll be picking your brain soon Mike 8).:thumbup::thumbup:

Awesome looking knife, and as a New York City boy, I'm all in favor of good knives that won't get me arrested!

One question, though: you described the backbar/spring as "everflush"... do you mean that it's flush at open, closed, and if it exists midstop, or that it's actually flush throughout the entire swing of the blade? If the latter, is there a quick explanation (or a link you could point me to) for how that's done? I have a mechanical background, and it being flush throughout the entire swing makes NO sense if the spring is exerting a force.

Thanks!

Very, very nice. A couple of questions:

--any chance of a linerlock?

--what other blade shapes are you considering?

--where could we go to set up notification for when and where the mid tech version is available?

My thanks.

Lucky Bob, Think of a single action auto using a leaf spring with a full backbar. And yes it stay flush through out the swing of the blade.ASBOB, I make it as a liner lock only as a custom. As soon as I release it as a Mid-tech I will post it here. They are available now as a custom.

Thanks guys

Michael

That looks like a great design sir, a modern take on the Barlow I'd say.
Your execution looks awesome.

Obviously being from Blighty I'll be following this one.

Thank you for thinking of us!

Dam Mike looks like you got a winner here put me down for one of the mid-tech models. My line men buddy's will love this knife they all want a knife they can get to fast and open with one hand.
