Gday folks, just thought Id share some pics of my latest addition, its a humble one but Im pretty happy with it none the less. Im sure most are familiar with the Ontario RAT 1, I ordered it in a Satin plain edge, purely as an EDC/camp/fishing knife. I didnt want anything too "Tactical" looking, even my wife commented " I dont mind that one"......
Razor sharp out of the box, Im really looking forward to using it.

One criticism I'll level at it, the spine of the blade is actually quiet sharp, sharp enough in fact that it cut me when I was taking it out of my pocket. I'll be stoning that edge of it asap.

Oh, just ordered my ESEE 4P today....stay tuned! Who said knives where addictive?????

Heres a few pics, one with my Gerber Paraframe and KA-BAR Utilty knife for size comparison.

Cheers, Scott.

Nice! Been wanting to pick one of these up for a while myself.

I had the same problem on mine with the sharp spine. I rounded it off on the belt sander and its fine now. You are the only other person Ive heard of who has had this problem. Im guessing it cant be just us.

Nope. I use mine as a work knife and it is great. But I did get a couple of digs from the squared points of the spine butt, and the edges of the spine were very sharp as well. Nothing a quick round of diamond stoning wouldn't take care of, though.

A friend uses his Rat1 as a work knife and likes the sharp spine for use as a scraper. I use mine as a work knife, but hate sharp edges in my pocket, so I rounded mine rather a lot. It is now very comfortable and attractive, too.

I have a RAT-1, and like it a lot. It's a fairly large knife but fills the hand really well. I took the belt clip off mine, which makes it very easy to hold. It's a tiny bit goofy looking when open, but it works well. A large, comfortable everyday user.

The generous ricasso means that you are unlikely to chop off your thumb if you don't get it out of the way in time when closing it too, unlike say, the Spyderco Tenacious.

The RAT-1 was my favourite knife until I found the BEE L05-1 (full flat ground, wood handle) and BEE L05 (drop point hollow, G10 handle). No gimping, but I think easier to open. YMMV.

Now for some crap photos to explain a bit of what I'm talking about....

This one throws out the scale a bit as they are on the table. The RAT-1 isn't that huge!
