Came centered perfect. No up and down.
But it has side to side play and is very stiff to open and close? Doesnt make sense i cant tighten the pivot or it wouldn't even open but it still has side to side.

That would tick me off. I would assume this counts as "defect". Check out the below. I'd call them up if others in the forum say that's abnormal.

Alright thanks. I mean its not horrible and it isn't like something i couldn't deal with. Just kind of puzzled that i heard nothing but great things about this blade and its my first nice blade and i paid 120 for it. If i were to guess the stiffness will wear out.

Im not going to be returning it or anything like that its my blade and i intend to use and carry it. Its not like horrible side to side where you can hear it clicking. Its just enough to notice that it doesn't have that tight tolerance that everyone talked about.

You wouldn't want to lose a finger if it failed! Open the knife and take a picture of the "hasp"

My beater knife is a cheap Barracuda Tactial knife. It had some wobble and I tightened all the screws. It has 0 wobble and it's a 5 dollar knife on ebay! Sounds like a defect/something is loose

the money you dish out for these knives, you would think they would have people looking over the knives before being sent out. that would piss me off and i'd send it back to get it straightened out.

After looking and messing with it its actually noticeable and i used my torx set to tighten things up to the max and it wont come out. Thinking maybe of asking to exchange it for a spyderco military with the liner lock? What do you guys think of that?

I can tighten it to the point of no longer opening and closing and the side to side still exist. Im thinking it may be defective.

Are you saying you tightened it all the way and now it's not opening? You can strip the torx screws if you go too tight. As long as you didn't damage it I would imagine spyderco should fix if you sent it in.

I didn't strip it. I'm a mechanic so i know not to over tighten over torque and strip screws, Its not damaged what so ever. Just for the 120$ spent im a bit disappointed.

i would send it back. call them up and have them make a note as to what problems you are having. package it up with a nice letter and list the problems. if it's your hard earned cash, would you want to be sent something new and giving you problems already?

I would be too. Is it REALLY easy to flip open with your thumb? You know the quick thumb move that makes it look like a switch blade? As long as you trust it, enjoy it. Just be careful because it's possible you got a faulty one is all.

I have had very slight side to side play in 4 out of 5 pm2's I've owned. 3 of which were brand new.

Even tightening it down more did not take it out.

I have heard this is a very common occurrence with this knife, but the play is very minimal, nothing that would effect function. If I'm not mistaken, it's do partially to the bushing pivot.

I dont feel like i should be able to wiggle the blade and see it actually move side to side.

I bet the G10 is hanging over the liners too much near the pivot. Warranty will get you fixed up.

I'm exchanging it for a military model I don't feel like waiting for warranty work and they are sold out of paramilitarys. Hope the military is tighter and better
