I`m a big fan of the traditional style knives, so decided to make myself a Hudson Bay pattern, with a "twist, " a scandi grind. This one has a 7" blade, 12" overall, 1/4" thick, with a tan micarta handles..

I took it out to the shop this morning to do a little testing.

This was after 12 chops on a 1 1/2" oak rod.

20 chops and I was through.

It did decent on shaving curls.

That one blows away any outdoor knife I have ever laid eyes on. I know from the the other knives of yours that I own, that it is tougher than nails. BY FAR. Fantastic!!!!!!!!!

Our forefathers would have given many pelts for a blade like that.:)

Do you know what it weights?

That looks great! Is it pretty heavy? Did you have any problems with the edge rolling on the scandi grind while chopping?

I spent some time this weekend playing with the pocket scandi you made for me. Here's a pic of it in action.

It was a pleasure to use, but this would be even better for chopping. Might have to get one built.

That's a great variant on your HB design, Stomper. I'll bet that the scandi edge gives it a deep bite. It would probably excel at trail clearing and maintenance. What kind of pants will this one be wearing?

My HB is my favourite woods knife, hands down. I can't say enough good things about it.
