I just got this from Randy after a respectable wait, but I'm one happy camper! It's a double-ground version of his Tanto with a 1/4" thick 8 1/2" long CPM3V blade. I know it's over a pound according to my 1 lb. Weight Watcher's scale.
It has a silver bat menuki on one side and a dragon on the other for a balanced look.
This baby is awesome! From the beefy armor point to the beautiful grinds, everything is simply superb! Of course, it goes without saying that it's out-of-this-world sharp too! I had to do the rolled up newspaper cut and did it with the whole sports section. It zipped through it like a lazer! (I didn't want to read about the Raiders loosing again anyway).
The sheath is mahogony covered with carbon fiber, and it has recessed magnets inside the sheath to help hold the knife in place. Randy even profiles the top of the sheath to engage the contours of the turk's head knot/hilt perfectly! Wow!
Randy kept me appraised during the different stages of the build, which I greatly appreciated, and which gave me a feeling of being part of the project.
Randy's truly a class-act who makes class-work! In keeping with my avitar, I gotta say that... "I'll be back!"
