Yesterday my local "sport shop" left a message on the home phone and asked me to call them. I love it when a gun store is called a "sport shop" and when they DON'T leave a message that says "the gun you ordered is in." :)

Actually, my wife went with me to pick it the gun. Better yet, it was a birthday present from her. I wanted it to compliment my 3" SP101 .357. It will make practice a whole lot cheaper, and hopefully more accessible. Yesterday I ordered a 1000 rounds of Aguila Colibri. It's a primer fired round (no gun powder) that shoots at 375 ft/sec. It is supposedly also very quiet.
There's a good bit of distance and trees between us and the neighbors, so I'm hoping this will all turn into a lot of backyard fun.

Anyone else have an SP101 .22?

Anyone ever shot Aguila Colibri out of a revolver?

(the video is not me.)

I used to have a old model SP-101 .22 6 shot with a 2 1/4" barrel. It wasn't very accurate. (The old Rugers were not know for accuracy.) I sold it.
I should have kept it. They a pretty rare.

I would suspect that the new ones are more accurate with the longer barrel and sight radius.

I also have a SP-101 .357 DAO with a 2 1/4" barrel.

Revolver, not that I can remember. They will be much louder out of a revolver, so try them some where where shooting is allowed first.

Shot them a lot out of an old pump, and out of a semi auto .22 pistol. You have to work the action on the semi auto (Ruger Mark I).

Very fun. Out of a pump or leaver action, they are super quiet. Really, about the same as an air gun.

I need to get a SP101 in .22 to match my my .357.

They will also kill rock chucks at much further from a rifle. I have killed rock chucks at 50 yards with good shot placement from an old scoped bolt action.

It is so quiet, that the sound will actually bring out curious rock chucks to see what it is.

I also have one of the old ones. the longer barrel half shroud like the current SP101 22lr just 6 shot instead. And it is a little driver. I love to shot wheelguns, big, little, does not matter. I really like to shoot 22lr, you can shoot all day and still cost less than a box of centerfire ammo. Think I am up to 16 22s in my collection from lever guns, revolvers, semi auto pistol, 10/22s, model 60, ARs, conversion kits, bolt actions. Really anything in 22lr is a blast to shoot and a great way to get kids into shooting. Got my first model 60 when I was 10, its over 20 years old and still shoots like a champ. Picked up a set of demin micarta grips from 41mag on rugerforms. Its top row, 2nd from left.
