Looks like you have everything you need and then some to keep your edges polished and honed to scary sharpness. Just don't let them go to long in between honings as it appears it would take most of the day to do some major hard sharpening or reprofiling.

Yipes! That's a pretty hardcore setup right there! It looks like you start sharpening about where I finish. I love sharpening stuff. Green compound on a strop is as sharp as I've ever felt the need to go. But lately, I've been starting with brick-dull machetes and working my way up from that.

Great system.
If you spend more time sharpening your knives then using them isn't something wrong? Um just sayin.

I enjoy sharpening my knives....

I find myself taking my cheap knife and putting a 30* edge on it, try cutting stuff one day, the next day put a 25* and cut stuff, the next put a 20* and then a 17* and go back and forth...

How do you use honing film? Do you spray your compound on it or just use the film itself naked? Thanks.

What's the order in which you use these things?
I haven't used them all just yet but to answer your question it would go
1. Black Diamond
2. 1 micron diamond spray
3. depending on mood either the 0.5 chro oxi or diamond spray
4. 0.25 micron diamond spray (for the edge to pass the hanging hair test)
5. Hard wool felt

Great system.

What makes you think I spend more time sharpening my knives, the more honed an edge is, the better it will keep. Hence, the less sharpening in the future. Invest ur time wisely. Plus, its a hobby, why limit yourself?

Honing film is designed for the diamond slurry's. what you do is place some water on glass or something like it and the film sticks to it due to surface tension. then you just spray what ever micron you want on top and your set. The good thign about it is that after your done and/or you want to change microns, you can just wash it off and start over. Or just keep the compound on and have several sheets ;p

I should have said "We and our". I am guilty of more sharpening than using myself. In my case I am going to claim that it is therapeutic.

After some use and feedback here the new order is:

1. DC4 diamond side
2. DC4 Ceramic side
3. Hard wool felt with 1micron diamond slurry sprayed on
4. Scrubbed bull leather with 0.5 chro ox OR diamond slurry
5. Horse lether with 0.25 diamond slurry...

As a note, I get stuck after the hard wool felt. I have not glued my leather on any blocks so they are not a flat surface. I stop now at the hard wool and get decent results (though with some complications) and will move on to the leather after I get them on some hard wood. HA's products work so well they demand attention to what you are doing. If you do not know what you are doing you will easily fail. The same goes for if you do know what you are doing, you will easily succeed. Highly recommend HA's products.
