My new Sebenza. How did I do on price?

I help a friend at gun shows. There is a knife dealer that sets up at the same shows. I usually walk over and drool over the Reeve knives, especially the Sebenzas. Every show, reason holds sway and I pass on buying because of price. At the last show this weekend, The knife dealer said he had only one large plain Sebenza, new in the box with all the papers (made in November 2007)and "it has your name on it". I handled it and it opened and closed like none of the parts were even touching another part. Talk about smooth!
I said how much and he said $300. Now I am not an expert on Sebenzas or pricing but I thought that was a great price for a new Sebenza.
Regardless, I am now it's owner or is it the other way around?

That is a good price on a new large Sebenza. You don't find them discounted very often since the price is controlled.

You are OWNED!

Thanks for the reply. I heard that this dealer is discontinuing CRK as they are now rigidly controlling dealer pricing. This was the only one he had and I suspect that he will not have any more and he wanted this old man on limited funds to have it. In any case I am happy and have two new friends...the Sebenza and the knife dealer.

Yeah, you did good, being that small Sebs are $330. That's nice to hear. Sebenzas are definitely worth the $$, but sometimes, it's just hard to part with that much money. Nice to hear that the dealer sold it to you for a price that you can bear.

And, yes, I think you got it right, the Seb owns you, lol. ;)

The Seb doesn't own you, but you had better check with it to make sure.

Willow dog,

Why do you say CRK is ridgley controling their pricing? They have always asked their dealers to comply with their MAP, right?

I am only repeating what I was told as the reason this particular dealer is no longer carrying CRK's. That was hearsay and not from the dealer. Not being a dealer, I can neither confirm nor deny the statement. All I know is that from the responses above, I got a good deal.

I just got signed up as a dealer, so i think I can answer the question accurately. CRK has always had an agreement with their dealers about MAP pricing, but it has been pretty lax and no one policed it.

Starting this year, all the dealers have to sign a contract to that says they will abide by the MAP pricing. If they do not abide by the contract, they will be removed as a dealer. And they said they are policing it now.

What it does is keep the internet jockeys from lowballing the market and degrading the brand. IMO it is a wise move.

That's apparently what happened and this dealer is supposidly getting out. In any event he gave me a deal from what has been said here.
